This ebay listing is somewhat disturbing to me.
First, It is NOT an LTD, it's a Session 400 Limited(probably Peavey' most unpopular steel guitar amp ever). These amps are not very closely related. This amp is nearer to a N'ville 400 in a large cab, than the LTD amp.

Second, the seller(a very active forum member) knows the difference in
these amps, the listing is just simply deceiving. This destroys this seller's credibility with me. I hope he will revise the listing. Sad Embarassed[/i]

I emailed the seller about this through Ebay and this was his direct reply to me:

"Dear pali1,

Okay smart ass... SInce you know it all what does LTD stand for ???? LIMITED... OH OKAY !!!! "

It reminds me of a friend's bumper sticker
"YOU CAN'T FIX DUMB"

Randy,
In March I purchased A Peavey Session 400 LTD, on the forum. It's the first Peavey & first Solid state amp I've ever owned, so....
I don't know much about, (year,etc.)
but I know I DON'T LIKE IT !
I want to go back to Tubes.
you can have it for what I paid,
$340 + shipping

Rick,

Is your amp an "LTD 400" or a "Session 400 Limited"??? The LTD Randy is looking for will just say LTD 400. It will have a small cab & if you're lucky, it might even have a 15" JBL in it.

Peavey later made a Session 400 Limited. It is a larger amp, some were even made in wedge cabs and they usually have a 15" Black Widow. These amps are totally different beasts & most people don't like them.

If you get a chance to try the old "LTD 400", you will probably like the sound. They are very nice & warm sounding & not so sterile & harsh to the ears. I know several tube amp guys & Standel guys that still like the "LTD 400".

Casey

The larger cab models were called "Limited" and did not use the "LTD" abbreviation and are different amplifiers completely.

On the face of the amp,(top right) it says "Session 400 Limited".
The cab is 28x9x20 (wedged)
Looks like a 15"BW inside, but the sticker is worn off the side piece. On the front it says BW equipped.
It's kinda harsh, for the warm tones I'm looking for.
Sounds much better on my regular 6 string! Although.....I'll have to make do for now.
Maybe a speaker change will work??
thanks for the info, it's a learning experience.

May be it wasnt the seller Bob.... LOOK at this Whoa!

I could swear that tag says Session 400 LTD and the amp says LIMITED. Maybe LTD is short for LIMITED ??

I know what you speak of Bobby Sun... The pic is a session 400 LTD that was on ebay. There was some ? as to WHAT the term LTD stands for.. Which is SHORT for LIMITED.

There is def a difference in a LTD 400 and a SESSION 400 LTD (limited) The tag was not switched. This was a new old stock amp from what I understand. I know my Peavey amps, seen 1000's of them.

Actually the Session 400 Limited is a very good steel amp. After the Evans, it is JayDee's favorite (he has 2 of them).
