Hey folks, I wanted to share with you some photos of my new Show Pro. I came the evening before last and I am absolutely thrilled with it. Totally responsive anywhere along the full length of the neck… even about the 24th fret! Amazing guitar.
For those keeping track of these things… it's a S-10 4 x 5. The big design difference is that it's not an SD-10 in the true sense of the word. The back deck is 3" deep. Somewhere between a Sho-Bud S-10's back deck and a full double width body. Jeff had to make custom endplate to accommodate my specs and it does exactly what I wanted it to do… make it more comfortable to play than a standard S-10 but not have all that extra real estate between you and the business end of the guitar.
And it's beautiful too! AJ did a great job on the finish and Jeff was so great to work with and sensitive and genuinely understanding towards I wanted and eager to work to make it exactly right. Thanks to Jeff, Gloria, AJ and anyone else involved in making this very special instrument!
BTW… I'll be using it this coming Wednesday on Letterman! October 29th. Check it out!

Sweet. I like the 'undersized' platform w/pad. Who knows, maybe it will become the new standard size for the current SD-10. |

Jon,
Congratulations on the new guitar!
That Show~Pro is absolutely beautiful! Jeff has outdone himself!
I have always liked the S-10 with a deeper cabinet. Here is one that myself and Bobbe put together using a formica cabinet built by Duane Marrs, and a Sho~Bud mechanism, pedals and rack. I wish I had kept this guitar.

Looks great, Jon......congrats! I played Charlie Tryon's SD10 Show-Pro last summer when he had it here at the house, and man was it ever smooth. You're right about that high register.....it just sings up in higher frets for sure.
I'll be tuning in, of course.....you know I'm a fan! Enjoy that guitar, my friend, and I hope to see you again soon in Canada. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Jon, beautiful guitar! I totally agree with everything you said concerning Jeff & Gloria, they're the finest in every regard as is the "Show Pro" custom steel guitar. A.J.'s finishes are absolutely stunning too. We'll be tuning in to "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday night. |

Larry,
The Show Pro is the brand name of a new guitar and is unrelated to Sho~Bud.

It is a brand new guitar, but the influence is there for all to see. ShowPro have taken a great concept and improved upon it. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Does the Show Pro changer have tunable splits? I am seriously thinking of ordering an SD-10 4 and 5.
Jeff answered my question with an e-mail, They use an additional pull rod to get any splits. _________________ Mullen (Black) Pre G-2 9x7, B.L. 705 PUP's, Evans SE 200 Telonics NEO 15-4, BJS Bar, Peterson Strobo Flip, Steelers Choice Seat, Folgers Coffee and Hilton Pedals.

Hey Jon, The Williams 600 series calls that size a S-10 Wide body or S10WD...IMHO it is the perfect size because the leg stance and hence the stability is the same as a SD10...BTW you have one beautiful Steel and I will try to catch the DL show on Wednesday night...good luck with everything |
