This past weekend the wife and I traveled from Tucson, AZ. to Lexington, Ky. to attend my youngest brother’s wedding. He has played drums with the Dark Star Orchestra Band for the last 11 years. http://www.darkstarorchestra.net/NEWSITE/HTML/dso.php

Because this would only be the second time all 5 siblings (oldest 58, youngest 40) were to be in the same place at the same time since we’ve been adults, he wanted the four brothers to play a couple of songs for our Mom. Not only have we never played a note together, I didn’t even know one of the brothers played guitar!

He said me he would try to find me a guitar to play if I could get there for the event.

After committing to be there, booking the red-eye special round-trip, and assuring the wife that we could pack all of her clothing and enhancement supplies……,the reality of the situation set in. Wonder what kind of guitar he’s gonna get? I mean…nobody bothered to ask about my copedent (finally got to use that word), volume pedal, amp, and special effects needs (not to mention a comfortable pack-a-seat, a little rug, and an excellent stage monitor mix).

I just resigned myself to the fact that I would probably find a banjo with raised strings, a spark plug socket , and a pignose amp all tuned up and waiting………Oh Well
I did take my bar and picks, a RP-150, and some cables. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=144012

So I get to the event, the tents are set up, tables set, caterers milling about, band stage and band are getting setting up…..no steel stuff in sight. After the family gets done with all the pre-wedding pictures, my brother looks up and says “Cool… there’s Brad”.

Brad Sarno. Very Happy

I can’t tell you what a thrill it was to meet him and his beautiful wife, Auset. Not only was he kind enough to bring all of his equipment from St. Louis, Mo., but a nicer couple of souls, you’ll never ever meet!! I found out Brad is friends with my brother and they have worked together in the past.

So, I get the ultimate treat of playing, for the first time ever, a beautiful Emmons push-pull, the Sarno Solutions Revelation pre-amp/rack system, and a T.C. Furlong Split cabinet!!
The wedding was great, seeing all my family in one place was wonderful, and the icing on the cake was the pleasure of meeting Brad and Auset.

On the flight home, the wife leans over and says “I forgot to tell you, your sound last night (not playing) was the prettiest I’ve ever heard”. I, of course, am taking that as the go-ahead to start putting money aside for a few future purchases…Winking

Brad’s products are something that has to be experienced.

Thanks again Brad and Auset, Grace and I are looking forward to the next time we meet!

Great story. Thanks for posting it.

I've never met either Brad or Auset. But some things you just know in your gut and I know that if/when we have occasion to meet, I will like them. Because I already do. Can't tell you why but I do. (I've have great business dealings with Brad and I had a pleasant Myspace exchange with Auset a long time ago for what little anything Myspace-related is worth)....

Let me tell you, in case you somehow are missing the signals----you are not just getting a go-ahead from the missus.....your marital bliss is positively riding on your future gear acquisition. It is your duty to get some cool stuff. Just one of those sacrifices for the greater good.
