As many of you know, I have a D-8 CANOPUS which, up to a few moments ago, was the BEST guitar I have ever owned or played. Well, one of my students went to Japan, contacted Yasuhiro Kamiya, (the builder of Canopus), and brought home a truly magnificent 8 string model called the "Buckie" (obviously in dedication of the late great Japanese steel guitarist, 'Buckie' Shirakata). I had the pleasure of playing this guitar moments ago...Yasu really outdid himself on this awesome steel guitar ! What a fabulous sound ! His workmanship leaves nothing to be desired. I will always love my D-8, however I am sure envious of this new "Buckie" model ! |

Keoki; Is it an all new design or does it resemble the CANOPUS in any way? It would be interesting to see! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

I had a few emails from Yasu about his wife's CD. It's only available in Japan I believe. |

It has a new body design to it and Yasu has done 'something' to really enhance the sound.
It sure has great response. Sorry, I have no pics.
I have that CD and it is beautiful...only available in Japan. |

At those prices, I'll be sticking to my Dynalap and vintage steels that were bought for way way less (and sound great), and about in total for what a new Buckie is going for.
Tho I wouldn't mind finding one, or more, under the twinkling tree in a couple of months.

Yes Andy...That's IT ! It is a bit pricey, but once you play it, you'll immediately 'feel' and hear what I have experienced. It's a VERY well made and designed instrument. |
