My 112 Died on the bandstand last nite. I`ve never had any Peavey gear die on me. Plugged it in, had a very odd buzz, not a typical buzz at all, followed by no buzz, no nothing. Wouldn`t power up. My future ex-wife brought me my backup, all good.
Took the chassis out, changed the fuse, still dead. I`ve played about 300 gigs in around three or more years on this thing, it`s just a pup by Peavey standards. I Love this amp! Anybody have a similar story ? Suggestions ?
From what I read about Peavey customer service, thats likely where it`s headed.
Thanks. |

Hal,
Thanks for the info. I had that happen with a re-issue twin, and on that one, you could see the the blown component, also a small kind of powder burst around it. I see no signs of obvious trauma, that sure would make it easier to diagnose. All good with Gal and the gang, I`ll send your regards.
Holynik,
My bad, I posted in the wrong section. Not looking to sell. Thanks.
Will repost in Electronics. |

I deal with a guy called Andy from Peavey's spares section. He is really helpful. I have just got a Neo magnet for one of my Black Widows (Christmas present from the wife) and he got it to me the day after I ordered it. He is up to speed with replacement B/W baskets and Neo magnets. I think I bought the last of their batch of Neo's so they may have to order some more. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Some interesting replys, which I appreciate, unfortunately for me, my amp won`t power up. I doubt the speaker issue applies. Is customer service from Peavey UK different from the states, or is this the response from Peavey U.S. in Merridian ?
I haven`t heard as many negative posts locally, might be a good topic for another thread. |

It's been covered in other threads before, but for new NV112 owners, the power cord has a tendency to become dislodged from the chassis, but still not fall completely out. This is the first amp I've owned with a removable power cord, and when it happened, it took a while to find it. I was onstage
with Don Helms when it happened to him.
If the amp won't power up, or goes dead in the middle of a gig, check this first. _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

Hi Steve....Ray Kedge who mentioned about "Peavey" is a good friend of mine. Regards servicing etc, it does seem to be that things have changed here in U.K.to years ago as Ray did mentioned. Years ago the main man there was a guy called Ken Aschard. I once called to have a repair done on one of my amps. They said to bring the amp up and they would fix it while I waited, and they'd show me around the place....well that was then, things now seem to have changed. I still use Peavey most of the time despite!!

Call Peavey and ask for Mike Brown....Peavey has always done a great job for me. I generally pull the chassis and send it in to them and it is back in no time. Repairs are reasonably priced too. |

Clyde,
Thanks, I checked that first. I wish that was it. The amp had an odd buzz, and one bandmember said he smelled "burnt/ozone" odor.
Willis,
I think I will ship it off, sure wish I could figger it out.
Thanks!
I have a Foxed NV400, a Webb, a Vibrosonic....
My band plays so quiet, I never need all that power.
Lots of pickers say the 112 aint enuff.
I can`t imagine having to play that loud.
I never saw anybody leave a gig because the band wasn`t loud enuff. |

Steve.....No louder than yu have to play with Gal....there's no reason in the world why the NV112 wouldn't be sufficient.....My system was way overkill but I got a good sound out of it. Still got the MSA Millenium? Great playing and sounding guitar.......I still got my Rains and lovin' it. Best regards to all.............HAL _________________ HAL...Excel D-10 w/ 8 & 5. I BACK MIKE BROWN 100% FOR THE BEST SERVICE YOU WILL EVER GET. HE HAS THOUSANDS OF AMP OWNERS TO TAKE CARE . AND I DON'T KNOW HOW HE CAN COVER SO MUCH. BUT HE DOES. NOW A FIX FOR THE CORD SLIPPING ON YOUR AMP JUST ADD A PIECE OF LEATHER AND A SCREW ABOUT 3" BELOW THE NORMAL CORD CLAMP MAKE IT TIGHT YOU CAN STILL UNPLUG THE CORD BUT IT WON'T SLIDE. MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU MIKE BROWN YOU ARE MORE THAN FAIR. |
