Hi all. Jeff Lampert is playing some fine music with my great friend Sheri Wagner in NYC this month. She's a solid electric guitarist / singer in all styles from country and that other style Western, throught 20's blues to jazz. If you like Bonnie Raitt and Patsy Cline you'll like Sheri.
These will be good shows. After hearing Danny Boy, I connected Jeff with Sheri, via intercontinental internet, because I thought they would make some great music together.
So you new yawka's go support these guys and have a nice cajun lunch too..
Sundays, May 11th and 18th
Delta Grill 700 Ninth Ave, NYC (48th st) 1-3:30pm (jazz brunch w/ a western swing flavor… thanks to Jeff Lampert sittin’ in on pedal steel)
Good southern style food here, I played mandolin there with Sheri a few years back on a visit.
Tuesday, May 27th Sessions 73 1st Ave. & 73rd st., NYC 8:30-11:30pm
(with my swingin’ quintet…including pedal steel virtuoso Jeff Lampert,
Dave Phelps on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass and Scott Latzky on drums)
The rhythm section I don't know except for Tom Hubbard and he's good. But a bad rhythm section in NYC is hot most anywhere else.
I heard Jeff with Sheri in my "producers ear" while listening to Danny Boy, so I got these two fine players together. I wish I was there to hear it... and sit in on bass too.
Sheri's music will give Jeff space for some GREAT rides.

I will definately make it to Sessions 73. This sounds great and Sessions is a great place.
Not quite your "Hank's" in Brooklyn and they draw a young Yuppie crowd, quite the opposite of the pierced set. No matter, I go with the flow (I was once a plumber)....can somebody spare a C note until my bonds are due?
Anyone in the metro area want to hook up for this?[This message was edited by HowardR on 09 May 2003 at 08:05 AM.] |

Great Howard. Glad to see a forumite going.
I have been friends with Sheri for over 10 years and she is a real player, not just a folk guitarist with back up band, and a fine voice. She has been working on her jazz rhythm guitar a lot.
She was a regular guest player with Minetta Creek Bluegrass back when I played with them too.
She needed a swingin' PSG with strong jazz theory and yet also proper styles for country and blues to really do her justice and Jeff was clearly the cat.
I always loved her song selection.
As a duo at Delta Grill they should be real cool too. I'm very glad they hit it off.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 09 May 2003 at 05:58 AM.] |

Likewise Lawrence....
Jon, Bob,Russ, Gerald, anyone else? It would be great if we could all get together and meet for a bite beforehand.
Russ, I was away when you called. I appreciate the comp. I'm out of town every weekend from now until Oct., so I can only make events that go on during the week.[This message was edited by HowardR on 09 May 2003 at 08:18 AM.] |

Howard,
I'll see if I can make it. Right now I'm booked from 8:00 to 11:00 that night playing my Stringmaster with the Moonlighters.
It is great to see that Jeff is getting his music out in public.

Just a 'heads up' - I stopped in at the Delta and Jeff isn't on the gig today (11th) - anyhow Sheri thought he would be there next Sunday, the 18th.
In the meantime John Widgren is at the double-ten Monday (12th) at Rodeo Bar

Hi all, David D. here
Sorry for any confusion. Sheri sent me her schedule and I posted what I got.
I guess just call the venue to check.
I am on the road, so I couldn't check this thread or my e-mail.
I am now at Crowbear's for the 1st South of France Sho-Bud Convention. We conviened last night. A Very good time is being had.
Also I played traditional French and Irish musique Saturday at a Grand "Bal" 400 people and 25 hurdy gurdys. I played with an old friend, a great Hungarian violinist for several hours. She is a HOT player and very charming too. And also with some old "Tarnois" guy who played a bagpipe made from an whole sheep, minus the head and feet. Bizzare a bagpipe with legs!
Crowbear been playing jazz, blues and country. Very cool.
So the french Sho-Buddist conventionaires wish ya'll a great time across the pond too.
CB here testifyin' that Very Good Time is bein' had.
Wish you we here and wish we was there !!!!

Roger wilco,Howard, will do the forward.
Who was it that got down to the gig the other day, Sheri said he was nice and was impressed with his current HW show gig.
I suspect given an hour Jeff could make music on anything with strings. And a few without too. |

I'm a good friend and fan of Jeff's, and have heard from him that he will not perform at Sessions on Tuesday the 27th of May as earlier thought. He expects a gig some time in mid June though, and I will post the date when it is known. I did hear him at the Delta Grill last week, and heard some wonderful things.....Rob Segal |
