The Florida Steel Guitar Club's May 2003 Meeting/Steel Jam will be Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at 6PM. Location is Catfish Johnny's Restaurant, CR470, Lake Panasoffkee, Fl (our regular meeting/jam place).
The club is open to all interested Steelers and those interested in Steel Guitar. There are no club membership fees and no admission fees to the club meetings/jams.
For those that will be traveling to Florida, the club holds monthly Meetings/Steel Jams the second Wednesday of each month. Just a reminder that we have room for anyone who wants to jam. A lot of the folks have gone North for the Summer, so bring your steel and join us on the 14th. The food is good and we have a great time and it won't cost you a dime.

Don,
Looks like you guys have a great time down there at Catfish Johnny's in Florida. My wife and I plan to move down there in a couple of years when we retire. Looking forward to being with you folks & maybe joining the Fla SG Club, and of course eating some great Seafood. BTW, can I order one of those black FSGC shirts like you guys wear. Thanks, Nick Reed[This message was edited by Nick Reed on 01 May 2003 at 08:07 PM.] |

We have sold out all the shirts that we had.
We are looking into purchacing another lot if we get enough interest in them.
We are also looking into caps for the club.
The club is open to anyone at anytime.
You do not need to live in Florida to join.
Just contact Jack at the above address and he will sign you up and put you on our mailing list. Remember we don't have dues or any cost to members. IT'S ALL FREE!!!

Hi Joe,
I live in Citrus Hills, but haven't played there in over a year. In fact I haven't played much golf in the past year and it shows in my score.
Hope you can make it to one of our Jams soon.

Jack, and I want to thank all the fine steelers who participated in last night's Meeting/Jam session. I personally want to thank the man from Starke FL. for adding some class and interesting tunes to our Jam and the two players from Naples who traveled about 200 miles to pick with us.
Thanks guys.
Hope to see you all next month.

Thanks, Don. I was the “man from Starke” you mentioned above. This was the first steel jam I had ever attended, as I had given up music in favor of a “day job” some 40 years ago – before the world had ever heard of steel guitar clubs and steel guitar jams. The jam session was thoroughly enjoyable to me, and I heard a lot of impressive steel guitar work. I want to thank Blake Hawkins and Bernie Kelley for helping an old man unload and load all of that heavy equipment – and I especially want to thank Blake for the loan of his Peavey amp for a large part of the jam. Laurie and I were running in some “tall company” last night, and I was honored for the opportunity to participate and for the warm reception by all of those great guys and gals. |
