I've got a lap steel here with an 8-string TrueTone. Sounds great, but I need a humbucker. Anyone?

Here's the steel:

I sure thought I recalled Bill Lawrence offering an 8 string 710 (708?) but I can find no sign of it on his new (to me) site.

Maybe a call to him is in order. If you've got an hour or two to kill.

I think Herb Remington puts eight string George L's on his guitars.

Mr. Remington does indeed put 8 string George L's on his. Mine was an E66. Great sound. I think Chandler has an 8 string that you can switch back and forth from single coil mode to humbucking mode.

I remember JW telling me about a Gibson S8 he played that had 8 string PAF.
He said it sounded great.

I've found that EMG has one, 808,that I like. It is the quietest pick up I know of. The tone stays very full even at a low volume unlike some that lose their lows when they are trimmed back. I prefer single coil but I do use an EMG in my Bluestem seven string.

Brad,

I have used a lot of George L's, and Lawrence 10 string humbuckers on 8 string guitars. They don't noticeably overlap and there are tons of them out there, cheap.

I even put a 10-1 in a silver 6 string Rick and it worked good, looked OK. Any blade type 10 string pickup will do.

I am sure that is a 10 string pickup in my MSA SS eight string, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that they use the same pickup in 6, 8, and 10.

BTW, that Silver Hawaiian honked with the 10-1!
