Here’s a couple interesting ones, again in “A”. Don’t get hung up in this key though, play them
in any or all keys so you have a feel for what they should sound like there.

Up--

4_______________________________________________________________________
5_____________________________________9--10_____________________________
6____________________7B--9B_______9B___________________________________
7______5--7____7--7G__________9G________________________________________
8___5_______7___________________________________________________________
9_______________________________________________________________________

And back--
3_______________________________________________________________________
4_______________________________________________________________________
5___10--9_______________________________________________________________
6_________9B______9B--7B__________7B___________________________________
7_____________9G__________7G__________7G--7_____7--5____________________
8______________________________7______________7_______5_________________
9_______________________________________________________________________

Starting and ending on the 9th string.
3_______________________________________________________________________
4_______________________________________________________________________
5__________________________10___________________________________________
6______________8_____8--10______10--8____8_______________8_______________
7_________7--8_____8__________________8____8--7_____7--8_____8--7_________
8______7________________________________________7_______________7_______
9___7_______________________________________________________________7___
10______________________________________________________________________

Or not, in other words or notes:
2_______________________________________________________________________
3_______________________________________________________________________
4___________________________5___________________________________________
5_______________5_____5--5A____5A--5_____5________________5_____________
6_________5--5B____5B________________5B____5B--5____5--5B___5B--5_______
7______5_________________________________________5_______________5_____
8___5________________________________________________________________5__
9_______________________________________________________________________

Look how the notes on strings 8,7 and 6 in the E9th tuning compare to strings 9, 8 and 7. Two
frets up from the note on the 8th string is the same note on the 9th string. This is important to
keep in mind if you are moving to grips or phrasings up the neck. If you use a 9th string run, you
end where you will need to be, up the neck.

What is the G lever? I have a Carter D10 in standard setup and don't have any 7th string changes.

Robert,

I have a half tone raise on my 7th string that raises the F# to G. I find it useful sometimes. My new steel has that change as well as a lower on the 6th that takes it down to a G then to an F#, haven't found a thing to use it for yet. It is new to me though.

I hope your finding the tab useful.

My best to you,
DS

I was just wondering if your G lever (my LKL) also raises your 1st and 2d strings? My G lever also lowers my 6th string a whole tone. My seventh string doesn't move, but the G lever will make the 6 and 7 unison.

I have been working with figuring out what someone's tab is telling me to do and actually figuring out how to do it on my guitar. Keeps me busy. Very Happy

Here is how it could be played without raising the 7th string on a pedal or lever. It doesn't flow as I wrote the original and would probably require a little different bar technique, but it can be done and sound good. If you lower your 6th string a half tone, the note I played on the seventh string could be gotten there with that lever engaged. Lets not get to hung up on what is written. They are ment as ideas only, to be altered, manipulated and changed as you might wish. A starting point, so to speak, to be left in the dust of your steeling path, on your way to bigger and better things. Enjoy the journey, steeling friends.
