I was just wondering, if any steeler had tried to play this number on a steel? If so, please post a video or sound clip, I'd love to hear it.
No way am I gonna try it, I am still working on Harbor Lights and Red Sails in the Sunset!! Laughing

I don't know who it was, but in 1984, I heard somebody play this at the talent search portion of the convention.

Very nice arrangement there Roy, you did a great job.
I just thought it would be a cool tune for the steel.
Thanks for the clip.

When I hear talents like Roy rip through a tune like Classical Gas on six strings and no pedals, I can only look at my maple and hardware monstrosity and sigh. Great job, Roy, on this and all you do.

Thank you fellas!

I learned this song first on Classical Guitar years
ago ...so reading and understanding the music
helped me to no end.

I found when the bass note was not possible...
instead of "packin' it in".....
by substituting the same note an octave
higher made the arrangement possible and gave
it a unique sound.

Just my take on it.

Thanks again.

Roy

Never heard it on steel, but in 1978 I saw Jeff Newman play that one on a $35 Sears Roebuck 6 string acoustic. It was so damn beautiful I got tears in my eyes.
