I have decided to display or should I say build some shelves to put my laps on and my question is this should they lay flat or can they be stood up at an angle resting on blocks for the head support? I would be leaving them in the cases that way I can pull one out or off the shelf and play rather than having them standing on edge on the floor. thanks in advance for the input.

About the only problem with leaving them out and exposed to the elements is corrosion to the strings and metal parts, but if you're active in keeping them cleaned there should be no problem in whatever manner you sensibly display them.

Thanks Ron, I decided to make a rack so I could basically stand them up at an angle in the cases, then I could pull them out as needed I'll build the whole thing out of wood and it will sit on the floor.

Thanks for the complement Ron, The great thing is they all sound different. So I really don't have a favorite one so to say.

Have you considered using that horizontally slotted wall paneling like you see in the post office or local shoe or sporting shoe stores?

You can employ metal hangers or little plastic shelf like thingies to set them on.

Looks nice.........and is simple and versatilve.
