Hey Tony, I have an Australian wine, name MATTIES PERCH SHIRAZ,would it be compatable to the palate with a Rib Eye Steak,Baked Potatoe and Salad or should I hold off and opt. for Kangroo or Iguana.
It's from south east Aus.

Hey Ray.
I havent personally tried that wine....but in my humble opinion if its from Australia it'll be good.....we dont have any Bad Wines or beers...just some better than others.
I would go for the steak
Rule of thumb...with Kangaroo it should be only Red Wine....Chateau d, Half past Eight comes to mind....a nicely priced Red at about $8 for a 4 Litre Cask......drank at slightly abouve freezing point.....in 15 ounce beer glasses
With Iguana....large Monitor Lizzards,Snake of any kind....only a white..same as with Fish...Chateau D Cardboard do a nice cask at around the $8 per 4 Litre mark.
Again drank just above freezing point in Beer Glasses
I hope this enlightens you on our cultural habits
Ray
Should you require any further advice Ray ...please feel free to ask.

Tony, thanks for the cultural lesson, anyway I drank the whole bottle, forgot I was cooking and burned the Rib Eye to a nice firm black crisp. It looked just like the Iguana you cooked last year in Dallas.I ate the burnt steak and drank some beer and passed out.

Hey Ray...wellI guess we will get bounced for beeing Öff Topic"......but i will take a chance rather than open a new thread.
We have a Speciality wine here called Hairy Wombat...wonderfull for cleaning your Dentures.....dont leave them in it for more than five minutes though or you will have to buy new ones
Also good for cleaning B@jer strings......in fact good for cleaning whole B@jers......just put em in a bucket of hairy wombat....they will dissappear !
Here in Aus we have many world class wines......but unfortunately they all tend to advertise in the Papers...........Now same as you.......I really dont believe what I read in the Tabloids so I have made it my mission to read all the wine and Beer adverts and to check out that if what they say is indeed true
I have had a couple of Badges made to Pin on to my suit......official wine taster....official beer taster.............So I will check out ever alcholic beverage in Aus......and will give you my official report in about 10 years time

Tony,I hope you read this. The wine I referred to in my first post, serious, you have to try it. I've never described a wine as delicious, but it was.You Aussies have out done yourselves.I enjoyed it with pork chops, mashed potatoes,Dixies gravey(which is uncontested)and greenbeans.Give it try buddy, you will see what I mean. When you do, give Lynn a big hug from me and Dixie.

We got some Mattie's Perch cabernet shiraz in the cutout bin on the Strip (you go just out of town for liquor here).
I'll be trying the shiraz; really really good stuff, nice after-taste. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Wasn't there a Monty Python bit about Australian wines?
I think it went something like:
"...another fine Australian blue wine, not for drinking but for laying down and avoiding."
then something about 'a cheeky little wine that really opens the sluces (sp?) at both ends" |

Hey Ray
People dont know it...and we dont show it............but as we really are the best of friends...and have hung out together in Dallas...........I will take your word for it and see iff I can find a bottle of that wine......I'm not much of a Wine Buff....if its cold I'll drink it!!!..........But iff you say its good....well thats OK by me....Let you know what I think
Hey Cartwright.......How very strange......I dont think I have ever seen a Monty Python show.....................but often people say to me...........you must have seen a lot of those shows....or Benny Hill...or So and So.......
...dont think O have seen many of any....just I have a twisted view of serious....interpret it my way |
