Ken,
I sent you an email but couldn't include the pictures of the Shofex board so I'll post them now.

How critical are the traces under the battery? I've cleaned them up and there don't appear to be any breaks or cross circuits but is that enough?

I don't see the Shofex in any posts so I'd be interested to hear opinions and stories from the members about this dinosaur. Whoa!

Chris

All traces are critical! However if you cleaned the residue off that ids the best you can do. I scrape the wider traces down to bare copper but not the hairline traces (they will break).

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the bare copper and noise. Do you try to seal it with anything? It just seems that the exposed trace might act as an antennae and pick up stray signals. And maybe get corroded... Clear nail polish would work for the corrosion but I don't think it would help for sheilding. Any thoughts?

The coating has no shielding properties. I no longer re-coat them. You can, but if have future problems from the acid it is a mess to get off and repair later.

A lot of time I just flow solder over the bare trace,
that will work just as well

Watch when replacing the memory chip. Be sure it is in the right direction. Also note that the socket has more pin than the chip! Same on the Tubefex, too. Be sure to leave the same open pins as before the chip change out

Ken,
I tried the methods suggested and none work for the reset on the Showfex. Any suggestions?

All I have is the "Peavey SHOWFEX Studio multi-effects" splash screen. None of the buttons change the display. If the reset won't work could it be the Peavey chip that's the problem? It worked before the mod though and it wasn't disturbed in the chip changeout.

I did the Profex II mod first and all seems to be fine with that so far. I just need to load up the presets and do a sound check.

Chris

Ken,
Please disregard my previous message. Embarassed

Reset for the Showfex is Play + Store on power up.

Tomorrow I'll make some noise and see how these bad boys sound! Cool

Chris
