Is there a preamp available that you can plug your Mp3 player into to raise the output signal (with level control). The situation is, we use a mackie powered PA that has phono inputs for a CD player, etc. My Mp3 player at full volume doesn't have enough drive and the leader of the band doesn't like to move the master volume up to compensate, saying the volume controls are too sensitive and are hard to reset to the correct volume. Also, the possibility of forgetting to reset the volume lower and blowing the crowd through the back wall exists.

A preamp with a level control would be perfect.

One of the small, cheap, mixers would do the job. I've seen some of the small Phonic brand or similiar mixers for about $40.

How's this for cheap?
