Here's the "cliff notes:" the amp has started distorting, crackling, putting out no signal, then blasting clean and fine. Intermittent. Removed the amp part, sent it to Meridian (it's there now), giving no problem on the bench. Hooked the speaker up to a Webb amp last night to check the coil, no problem. Neither part seems to do it separately. Everything else in the chain is fine.

| Michael, it might be the effects in and out patch sockets,, connect a cable between the sockets , this will tell you if the connections are dirty... |

Actually there are three "through jacks" that can cause the problem. There is the return on both the pre and post EQ and the Power Amp in jack on the rear.
Easisest way to check these jacks is, one at a time, plug a guitar cord from the EQ send to the return for both pre and post EQ effects loops and the same thing from the Preamp Out to the Power Amp in on the rear. |

| Peavey amps are noted for this problem. Wonder why they don't try to correct it. "Almost" every Peavey amp I've ever owned developed this problem. When these "symptoms" occur I always clean the jacks.ALL of them. Most of the time it fixes it,at least for a while. Other brands of amps I own and have owned never had this problem. I like Peavey amps.I have owned several and still do. But this is one annoying problem that needs to be addressed. I'm sure MANY people have taken their amp to a repair shop when all it needed was the jacks cleaned. It must have something to do with the type of material used to make the contact points. It is prone to corrosion apparently. |

| I have had many problems with the reverb unit connection, loose signal through unit and cuts out, have to bang on the amp; Also, i have had many pre-amp solder connections have dry joints and have re-soldered a few dozen boards out on the road many a night. |

Mike, yes, I called Jimmy, told him it's terrific. I have to tell you, whatever you guys do with the tone circuit in the 112, it's the best you've ever come up with. For guys that want 200 w or power like that, if you put the exact same tone circuitry in an amp with a couple hundred watts... you'd rule the world.

Mike, let me add, I sent it to you guys Wednesday, and I got it back Monday. If they'd had Saturday delivery, I'd have had it Saturday! Wonderful service.
I don't know how, but I believe you guys have captured the magic that some of those old Sho-Bud single channel amps had with the 112. I've never been happier with an amp.
