I dug out my old Peavey ProFex II that I havent' touched in years. I even found the manual and the card. I hooked it up to an old Fender Vibrolux Reverb that I had been practicing with. Here's the problem: There is very little volume with the ProFex unit hooked up. I am not using a patch loop and am playing mono. I bypassed the ProFex and I have tons of volume. Put it back in line and very little volume is there. I have adjusted the volume knobs on the front and back of the unit to no avail. Any one with a clue as to what might be wrong with it? Thanks in advance.....this is my first ever post here! Michael |

I would pop the cover off to make certain the internal mem battery didn't leak, which is very common after so long. Might be worthwhile to send it to Ken Fox as I did with my TubeFex and have him do the batteryless mod w/updated Newman/Peterson presents installed and have him check the unit out for proper function as he does with all repair/mods. He found my motorized pot was bad and also replaced it. Ken knows the Peavey line of FX and amps and Fender tube stuff real well. He has also taken on the WEBB and did a great job with my 1978 ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

This is very typical of what I am getting in for repairs now. The batteries are very old in most units and have leaked. That puts a short on two resistor and partially or completely mutes the outputs.
Typically there is an hours bench work to remove the board, clean up the mess, replace parts and get it tested out.
Same as Peavey Repair Center , I cannot guarantee this work as battery acid damage can show up later. So far all I have fixed like this are working well. I replace both resistors, the mute transistors, one cap in the mute circuit. If other parts have leakage I replace them as well.
After that I do the battery-less mod and the Burr Brown chips upgrade option (if requested). |

Well, it appears I am a candidate for this Ken ! Tell me what I need to do to make this happen Ken. I'd appreciate a estimate on shipping and cost...I'd love to have this unit back up and running. Michael |
