Hello!
I just wanted to introduce myself, I am the guy who owns the National Dynamic lap steel that Steinar Gregertsen posted about and other forumites graciously helped to identify. Seeing so much useful information here inspired me to join this fantastic forum.

I'd played E9 pedal many years ago and left the steel world to concentrate on guitar. Through Steinar I got hooked into the non-pedal side via a Lazy River Weissenborn earlier this year and more recently the aforemenioned National. I have enough to keep me busy for a while.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Steinar for his guidance and inspiration and for personally answering 100's of questions without complaining (that I know of) Wink I also wish to thank Fred Kinbom for his words of encouragement. These guys are both wonderful people, very willing to help.

Looks to me like they're in fine company. I'm glad to be here!

Regards,

John

Thanks guys, I appreciate the welcome.

Yes it's the white one with the roman numeral fretboard.
It was owned by a friend of mine who got if from ebay years ago. I was hoping to get it from him and finally succeeded.

I should have also mentioned Andy Volk's book that has now got me into a research mode. Just got it last week and can't put it down.
My last band some years ago flirted with rockabilly, and early country with some western swing thrown in for good measure. I think that is when my non-pedal seeds were planted by our steel player.

Thanks again for making me feel welcome here.

Hi John,

Welcome to the board. These guys have helped me out a lot over the last year and a half I've been here. Relatively, I'm a newbie too. I'll second the kudos to Steinar.

I caught your thread on your Dynamic, super guitar, congrats.

And.........Howdy neighbor, I'm just up the road in Wildomar.

Best,

Rich

Welcome, John - as a Supro Jet Airliner owner, I know how great they sound. Congrats again on the Dynamic -- it's a terrific steel that you'll enjoy for a long time.

I just want to say thanks once more for all the welcome hospitality you all have shown.

Rich - yes I noticed you're nearby. Sometime we'll have to compare notes or something Smile

I did a search for it and...

Now I remember it!!

That one looks very "high class" much more than mine from this thread...

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=141451

Someone said mine looked like the early 1980s and I sort of agreed while picturing Max Headroom and Swatch watches.LOL

Glad to see you here John. Like I mentioned, you won't find a more supportive and friendly group of folks. Looking forward to getting together and picking--cool possibilities with the two of us trading off!

Jim, I respectfully disagree, that one of yours looks almost minty. The one I have is in nice shape but not nearly that nice.

Fred - thanks again, what can I say.

Dana - surprise!
Dana is a former fellow band member and the guy who got my mind into non-pedal guitar some years ago through his tasty playing within our group. I'm just late coming to the party Smile

Don't worry. You're not late to the party. There's still tons of stuff for all of us to learn...and there's plenty of beer left.
