After spending all year relearning how to play non-pedal after not playing for 35 years I have jumped head first into the PSG world. Purchased a Jackson Blackjack and lined up an instructor. I am a glutton for punishment. I don't know if I can learn to play it but I have got to try. Anyway I may have a few questions as I go along. The help I got from the non-pedal folks on the forum was very helpful. |

That a way, Jim! Sounds like you have the desire, so you'll do fine.

Jim, you will love the PSG. I've been playin' for eight years, almost nine, and I've got cerebral palsy in my left hand, but the more you play the pedal steel guitar, the more you'll love it. Your confidence will grow the more you play.

Welcome to the forum, and to playing the steel again after 35 years. I am a recent beginner also. That black jack sure is shiny.
Hey Brett, I saw your youtube vid. Awesome! _________________ We live to play another day. |

Does anybody know anything about the Blackjack guitar? I have never seen or heard one so just took a chance that it would be ok to learn on and hopefully to use for a good while |

I don't know much about them, but they sound real nice. Mickey Adams has a video of one on Youtube, I think Bobbe Seymour may have a video also, and I think Chris Ledrew has posted some sort of Jackson, but I am not sure if it was a black jack.
If you can change copedent on it, then it is just fine. Some models like the Carter Starter or the Stage one, have fixed copedents and people end up selling them real quick it seems. _________________ We live to play another day. |

Brian, thanks for the response. You can change copedents on them. The few folks I have talked to about the blackjack say it is a entry level professional guitar that can be used as long as you want to use it. I stayed away from the "student" models for the reason you mentioned. I didn't want to have to buy another guitar in 6 months. This will be the 5th guitar I have purchased this year, the other 4 are non-pedal S8's. I sold one but if I buy anything else anytime soon my wife is going to divorce me. I looked at the sites you mentioned. The guitar sounds great and probably is more capable than I will be. |
