I've started a new service for steel guitarists, vocalists, etc. That being making custom rhythm tracks. All digitally done using a HDD recorder (hard disk digital). Will master to either a mini-disk or cd (your choice). You name the song and key that you need the tracks in. I specialize in country and gospel (southern). If you want vocal tracks, specify any lead instrumentation that you desire. you can e-mail me at: hsteeler2002@yahoo.com or call me at 504-812-9018 cell or 985-657-0690 home for more information including prices. A 10% donation to the forum will come from any and all orders received. Thanks and I hope to hear from you.

Cool, Hal,
But, while I,m at it, where is Buras, La.? (I'm 12 miles north of Winnfield, on Hwy 34)Seems I might have ask you before, but I can,t remember. We are neighbors in this "Swamppy State"" you know. I would someday like to meet all the steel pickers from Louisiana. Anyway, I think that is a cool thing you are doing. The only thing is...CD's are OK, but, I would like the master on a cassestt...If you can't, that's OK, I will settle for the CD's....Now, I've got to figgure out which tunes I want, and what Key.
I will be Calling or E-mailing you.
Thanks, Hal, and Have a Great one, OK?
Regards, Ron Preston

Hey Ron, thanks for responding. Buras is south of New Orleans on Hwy 23. Just about as far as you can go before you jump off into the water and get wet. If you look on the map, look at the southeastern most part of LA and you'll see Venice, I'm just North of there about 15 Mi. Putting tracks on cassette is no problem either. If that's how you want them, I'll be happy to accomodate. You can e-mail me and we'll discuss exactly what you want, and go from there. I'm the president of a steel guitar club here in the gulfcoast region, called Deep South Steel Guitar & Musicians Assoc. Our next meeting/jam will be on Feb. 1 in Gulfport, MS @ the VFW on Dedeaux Rd. How about meeting me there......we'll get things underway around noon. Take care and contact me. HAL

Good Lord, Hal...I guess you wouldn't want to buy any of my GATORS, Huh? You probebly have a few too many already.
Dag, The 1st of Febuary, I will be backing up a Nashville cat by the name of Trinni Triggs...His old steel player was a fellow by the name of Eddie Snow, who now plays 6 nights a week in a theatre in Eureka Springs, Ar.
Sorry, my Friend....BUT, DO NOT FRET, (no pun intended) I would LOVE to come down and be a "Guest PLayer" sometime...Anyway...I will call you in the next several days to confirm your "COOL" recording services for a song or 2, or 3, or 4....I do have a few in mind.
Thanks a lot, Hal...
Talk to ya later.

Hey Ron....No I think I'll let you keep your own "gators" up there in Dodson, I've got enough of them down here. So you're the one that's taking Eddie Snows place. That's cool man....hit a lick or two for me. Make it worth my while on the number of tracks you want done. I'll tell you how I do them. I get a tempo set for the whole song, and do a click track on my recorder....go back and do a scratch piano track, add bass, acc. rhythm and drums, and whatever else might be necessary to give a good full sound. As a steeler, I like that good full sound behind me when I'm playing. Now if you want any other lead instruments (such as piano fills, etc.)let me know and I'll make room in the tracks for it. I do all of the instrumentation myself.....Looking forward to do some with ya....call me for prices, or e-mail me personally at: hsteeler2002@yahoo.com

Hal, thanks for the pricing info. I'm not at the point of needing to have any trax made (I have a home MIDI studio where I have done some of my own, actually). But I could see how such trax would be good not only for rehearsal purposes but also as backup for solo (or semi-solo) performers. Thanks for offering the service. Do you have any online demos we can all hear?

Bill...once again I thank you for your response. I want to make this as affordable to players as possible, so I'm reformatting the whole procedure. I'm building up a repertoire of songs, and trying to do it in a format of 3 to 5 minutes per song. I've already done a couple (City Lights in D and I Fall To Pieces in F-G). They came out really nice. I'm mastering them to mini-disk at the moment, in digital format. I have a dual cd burner/player coming in shortly and a Zip-Disk drive coming for storage....where I can pull up any song that I have done to compile what someone would want. I will at a later date have a list of songs and the key they are performed in, available for people to choose from. I will also be doing a version with the steel parts included for those beginners who might not know the melody lines of a song. So, if someone would order 10 songs, if they so choose, they could get a CD, Mini-Disk or Cassette Tape format of the tracks with and without steel. With steel it would be 20 tracks for $35.00 or 10 tracks for $18.50 plus shipping costs. In answer to your other question, do I have any that I can put on the forum...at the moment no, only because I don't have the means, computer-wise to do that. Help me out here by spreading the word around to pickers that you think might benefit from this. Thanks again Bill for your response.....HAL

Hal:
Would you be interested in doing tracks for original songs.

You would be given a key, road map, suggestions for instrumentation and a demo of some kind to get the drift of the song.

I would be looking for a quality stero track suitable for a pitchable demo when completed.
