I did a Search on this topic and found little.

It seems most GFI owners are content with the GFI-II pickups. Have any of you changed the pickup(s)? If so, to what, and how would you characterize the results?

(Please, only replies to the questions as asked. "I like the GFI-II just fine", "The pickup doesn't matter" and "It's all in the hands" people, please don't reply.)

The last GFI, S-10D I had didn't sound like I liked until I replaced the GFI-II with a George 10-1. For my taste, the next GFI I get , I'll install 10-1's, w/o a doubt.

I wasn't happy with the original pu in mine.
just for grins, even though it wouldn't mount, I tried an Emmons 106N and was pleasantly surprised with the tone.
Ended up with a True Tone. That really woke it up!

Ever since I started playin' a GFI, I've always used GFI-IIs. I'm happy with the sound.

Mike,
I overheard you talking about your new pickups but didn't get any details. How are the GFI III's different than the II's?

The the way, I really enjoyed your playing at the convention.
Thanks

thanks for the nice comment on my playing, as far as the NEW GFI 3 pickup... Much richer tone, and string separation is fantastic...i have A-B them side by side with the GFI 2 and there is a huge differance!

Thanks Mike,
It sure made the GFI Expo sound great.

You were sure getting some good bass sounds when you were playing with Gene with it too. That was pretty fun to listen to.

Maybe Gene will get some info on the website one of these days.
