I have played many and found something to like about most of them. The shobuds for thier sound, the derby for several reasons, The Jackson's played great, I like everything about the carter I had, wish I could have kept it. Fulawka plays verry well also,
The Williams I now have impressed me the most as it has several others making them wanting to buy one, and did. It has a sound you can live with, I love the Keyless tuner, the size, the ease in whitch it plays, the sound up and down the neck and strings on each fret. It just makes me want to play when I look at it it says play me.I feel in the long run it will make me a better player. To clean up my act, stay on fret better, and do the Axe justice.
I was very impressed with the construction under neith, the All wood body same price is a PLUSS.
So how do you feel about the ones you have played and why did it make a difference??????????

I'll put it like this,Of all the guitars I've had,The one I regret getting rid of the MOST,A ZUM 12 string uni.If my legs were not so short,I could kick my own butt for letting that one go.DYKBC.

Honestly, i've tried a few psgs that i found were Xcellent
Williams, Emmons, GFI, Fulawka, Franklin, some ShoBuds, & of course ZumSteel |

My Emmons Push/Pull. I love the tone, the way it looks and the feeling I get when I play it.
I also enjoy the feeling of the tension of the strings... nice and tight.
It feels very sturdy, yet it's very resonant and responsive. Overall, it has the feeling of a high quality instrument. |

I've had 2 Sho~Buds,2 Carters,1 GFI, 1 Emmons and my present guitar a Mullen RP.
There's something nice about them all but I think if I wanted any one of them back i'd take the GFI keyless,but I love my Mullen and it's probably my last. |

GUY'S i have modded most brands of guitars on the market today,,,, they all have their great and not so great aspects to them """ALL""" of them can if set-up correctly to fit the individual,, be what you are looking for and after my mod and the pick-up that fits """YOUR""" style of listening and playing have """THAT TONE"""but the guitar must fit and feel correct to the individual or he needs one that can have that feel to himself just a few of my thoughts.....

| The Emmons Push-Pull that I have; I've never heard a better tone. I plug it straight into a '65 Fender Twin Reverb w/JBL speakers. This guitar was selected and set up for a great musician by Billy Cooper, one of the, IMO, best musicians and psg mechanics on the planet. This baby is going to stay in the family. |

CLR, I think Charles said this is the only Ground up S12 he has ever built, I did the cabinet,endplates,keyhead,some of the machinwork and the finish, it was put together with leftover modified Marlin parts. I like the tone and playability.

Actually, a friend's Emmons LeGrande I tried once sounded the best to me. |

| At the risk of being sacrilegious all pedal steels look and sound alike to me !!! IMHO for my ears and taste the best "sounding" steel I've ever played is my 1956 Rickenbacher DW-16 non-pedal D-8 steel guitar !! Since I fixed the "tight" tuners with the info and help from "Big John" Bechtel I can't find anything wrong and am very happy with the sound and playability of that Rick. !! If we're talking about 6 stringers....
Note the home made B-bender, made by my father who passed away 5 years ago. He also inlayed my name in the guitar.

I have never heard a steel guitar that I didn't like to listen to, but I am really partial to the old Sho-Bud Pro II Custom that I play. I absolutely adore this guitar, even the unGodly weight, because it has everything a steel guitar needs, especially that wonderfully famous Sho-Bud tone. I have also a very soft spot for Noel Anstead's Anapeg guitars. If I was to ever get a replacement for my Bud (which I probably never will), I would look very hard at one of Noel's guitars.
