Carl:
Congratulations. It's ironic that your anniversary date and the demise of our Ophart company happened on the same day. You must be better at being a husband than you were at being a corporate executive.
Many more to you and Bettye Sue.

Carl, you know that you are one of my best (never met in person) friends. Mickey and I have nearly 51 years under the belt. Keep on truckin' and keep your mouth shut and you might make 51 also (:

Carl:
49 years is a long time to stay together. My first wife passed away just before our 40th. Two years later I remarried and Laurie and I will be celebrating our 13th in June -- and we have never had an argument. If you are wondering how that has been possible, let me tell you how it came about.
We went to the Grand Canyon for our honeymoon in June 1990. We rented a pack mule to haul our camping gear as we hiked down into the canyon. About half way down, the mule stumbled. Laurie pointed her finger at it and said, "That's one!" A little further down the mule stumbled again, at which time she pointed her finger at it again and repeated, "That's two!" As we approached the bottom of the gorge he stumbled again. She pulled out a .38 revolver and shot him right between the eyes. I said, "Honey, don't you think that was a little harsh?" She pointed her finger at me and said, "That's one!" We have never had an argument since then. |
