I just uploaded the last of about 80 videos from the ISGC Hawaiian Show in St Louis last Friday.
It took longer to do that than it did to drive home to S. Florida from St Louis!

Rick,......you are the most uploading guy on this planet.......whatever event you attend you capture it all (we don't even have to go to them anymore.....  .....along with tunes, instruction, and naked photos......ooops.....

Rick,.....I see that Bruce Chapelle is on bass.....Bruce, along with Steve Alcott handle the bass chores for the PSGA Shows every year in CT......these are two extremely accomplished musicians that you've had the opportunity to play & hang with......

Rick,
Much appreciation for bringing us a little of the action through your videos. 
I am enjoying them immensely. 
You are going to have to encourage those country western steelers to expand their repertoire of Hawaiian songs. Maybe they could come to the Joliet and Winchester conventions for some exposure

Steve Alcott is the kind of bass player most bands only wish they had - he was our house bassist at the Dallas show, and he will be with us for the Phoenix show in January and again at the Dallas show in March.

Don, you make a good point.
Country music, western swing - and in fact all genres that feature steel guitar - owe a profound debt to Hawaiian music, where it all began.
So any steel player who desires to really know the roots of his instrument should explore Hawaiian music in depth. |

Yes, there is now. We just sealed the deal with the SWSGA to organize and host it.
They saw the Dallas show and loved it - and decided they should have a Non Pedal Session too.
We'll have the same great backup players (Gerald Ross, Captain Ivan Reddington and Steve Alcott) plus the great Carco Clave will be joining us again on guitar as well as steel guitar.
Several of the same excellent steel players have already signed on to perform, so it's shaping up to be a wonderful event!
We'll make an official announcement when all the details are worked out and the roster is complete.
Mark and Wanda, you're very welcome!
There is over 6 hours of great music in those videos, so you can pretty much fill up your entire Saturday morning.
We had a lot of fun at the Hawaiian Show, and I'm very happy we're able to share it with everyone who couldn't be there. |

That's good, cause I'm a Florida guy and so are Jeff and Ivan.
We'll brave almost any weather if it's for a good cause, but we'd rather stay warm!
The weather in St Louis was beautiful last week, and it was nice all the way there and back too.
But speaking of weather, there's this real nasty dude name of Ike who appears to be headed right for us.

There's so much amazing playing here that I don't know where to begin. Billy Robinson's scary slants and string pulls, Chuck Lettes' warm and fluid tone, L.T. Zinn's laid back authority, and on and on and on and on....

and here is a great example of L.T's playing - on the Stringmaster Quad that Leon Brannan restored (possibly the nicest sounding Stringmaster I've heard, but the player has a lot to do with it)

Okay, I just talked with LT on the phone.
Slight correction as to the tuning he uses:
hi2lo - E C A G E C Bb G
So technically, it's a C13 tuning.
Relatively the same tuning as the E13 I have on my top neck (G# E C# B G# E D B) . .
LT is feeling alright, but he has to take it real easy for a few weeks. He can't travel or do anything that will jostle him around until he's all healed up.
