Every steel player on the TSGA convention this past weekend was just great! I wasn't going to mention any names but I really had to commend players such as...

RANDY BEAVERS: record that new CD tomorrow! I loved selection of songs and the old Zum sounded so sweet.

JOHNNY AND JOAN COX: you both are tremendous players and add a sparkle to the show. By the way Johnny, I've told everyone you were a student of mine. HA

TOMMY DODD: I just finished listening to your new CD (In the Steel of the Night) man what super playing. Everyone needs to get the CD and his soundtrack CD. Tommy, please let everyone know where to purchase your music...no address/phone on your CD cover. Love the way Tommy puts his heart and soul into his playing.

FYI
Tommy Dodd's e-mail address is:
tommyd@mindspring.com

His phone number is: (770)421-1122

I always enjoy listening to Tommy and his band in Saluda, SC. This information was obtained from his promotional band picture. I agree that Tommy puts his heart & soul in his playing.

Ditto on Tommy Dodd's CD. His ballads are particularly beautiful, but it is a fine CD from start to finish.

The Time Jumpers CD with Johnny Cox is excellent too.

Thanks Bill..we had a wonderful time visiting with you and Joyce the week before the show. It was quite a thrill getting to go to the MSA factory and see how everything is done. It wad top notch show as always and we sure all had a good time. I thought Tommy and Randy had great sets as they always do. I wish the show was coming up again this weekend, and we could do it all over again

I was at the show on Friday, and heard a lot of great players, but I thought Tommy Dodd stood out. I was talking about his set with a buddy and 'command of the instrument' was what he came up with to describe his playing. Very true...

Ditto's on Tommy,

I first saw Tommy Dodd at a local get together in powderville, SC many years ago. I could not get over the incredible playing that I witnessed Tommy perform.

Since that time, I have seen him many times. He was one of 5 that had their own show on the Friday night "family setting" at the Steel Guitar Extravaganza in Atlanta in 1997.

The notes coming out of his gorgeous Zum has few precedents on our beloved instrument. In a word, Tommy CAN cut it!

May our precious Lord and Savior richly bless Tommy, and all of you always,

carl

I've had several people ask me since the TSGC where they can buy the 'Time Jumpers'and Johnny and Joan Cox's music.

Where do we order your steel guitar cassettes/CD's? Do you have any special sales for all of us?? Please let everyone know what we can buy and where to order. Thanks!

Bill and all,

Thank you so much for the kind words about my set in Dallas and also about my new CD.

First let me thank all of those involved with putting on a great show, again, in Dallas. The Texas back-up band has to be one of the finest anywhere in the world and they play with a groove you can't feel anywhere else. And the folks that select them are the mainstay management within the TSGA. A super group of individuals dedicated to the steel guitar, western swing, and great music for all. I thank my lucky stars to have been invited to play with these super-pickers from Texas, and be a small part of the big show, for the last several years. (BTW, if I ever get borned again, I want it to be in Dallas, Texas!)

I, too, want to recognize the great performances by Johnny and Joan Cox. They are both fantastic players and play from the heart. Also, my thanks to JC for setting in on bass during my set.

Now, as far as Randy Beavers. Wow!! I've been going to steel guitar shows for many years. I never recall anyone getting 3 standing ovations during one 25 minute set. Randy's playing was phenomenal. And the tunes he chose to play were refreshing, inspiring, and exciting. When Randy played the classical piece "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" an awesome silence came over the crowd and when he had finished playing their response was tremendous applause. Yeah, you can say the boy had a great set!

As far as info. on my new (and old) recorded music, here's a link to take you to some propaganda. click here (Shameless advertising, I know, but my buddy Bill S. set me up for this.)

I apologize for the lengthiness of this post but I certainly wanted to thank all the folks above who had nice things to say about my playing. And, again, my sincere thanks to the TSGA (Louie, Buddy, Charlie, et. al. and my new pickin' buddy Albert T.) for letting me be a very small part of a great show.

Tommy D........
