I'm looking for a guitar-type ES-150 pickup (the Charlie Christian type) with the baseplate as fitted to some Gibson archtops.

I've been waiting for years for one.
Gave up. Jason Lollar makes a very good replica.
Sometimes you see CC's on ebay, but they are usually MOOCHO dollars. $500 plus, even if they're dead.

One went on ebay for $250ish and another for $400 recently, IIRC. Is there anyone making baseplates for the Lollar ones?

Thanks Andy, I was aware of the Lollar pickups. I really want the full setup for an archtop, with the large pickup plate with the mounting screws that go through the body.

| Be aware that this pickup was available long after Gibson stopped using it in instruments and listing it in catalogs/price lists. Many jazz guitarists in the 1940's and 1950's ordered their guitars with these pickups. Gibson had the parts and tooling and did this like any other special order. As late as 1960 or so they were standard on the L4-CE and George Goebel models and appeared on price lists. In the 1970's there was a Gibson ES-175-CC model that was a standard ES-175 in walnut or wine finish with a new single "Charlie Christian" pickup. I was able to get a dozen of those pickups and use them in various projects. They turn up sometimes with total misrepresentation on eBay or Craigslist, some sellers just don't know about the newer ones and assume all are 1930's, some know the difference and 'relic' the new one and hope for an uneducated fool with money. |
