Just a QUESTION:

This guitar looks like it might have had a broken neck just below the nut on the up-fret side of the neck.

It looks like it has a screw or two, protruding thro' the headstock..... perhaps to repair that break?

On the butt end of the guitar, it has as curved metal plate. I'm considering that the strings thro' the body arrangement, might have been a later modification by one of the sellers......since the pickup is clearly a postwar set-up. The two knobs tend to support that, in addition to the 1 1/4 inch pickup. The headstock LOGO also suggest it has had mod's as mentioned above.

Ric Aiello, what do you say?

Thanks Ray! I love 7-string laps. I have a D-7 Grande Console, and much prefer it over my 8-string Stringmaster. I hope some others chime in about this guitar, because I don't know enough about these old Ricks to have any real opinion other than, it looks beautiful!

Ray ... I usually don't like commenting on active sale items ... but since you asked ..

As far as the headstock/nut ...

It looks like a new nut was fabricated and screwed on ... why ... who knows ???

That "line" under the nut doesn't look like a "broken neck" (its not through and through) ...

Looks more like a "scar" from the filing off of the integrated nut ... ???

As for the other two holes ...

The 50's BDs had a "flip-top" peghead cover with that "badge logo" ...

Looks like the flip top and its retaining bracket ... was removed ...

Hence those other two holes in the headstock (behind the nut screws) ...

And the "badge" logo ... was taken off the peg head cover ... and fixed onto the headstock itself ...

Anyway ...

Circa 1953 ... RIC went back to the "string through" on their BDs ...

This particular body was drilled for the tailpiece ... so they musta put on that "decorative" bar ... to hide the tailpiece anchor holes ...

Speaking of string through holes ... seems they were "out of practice" drilling ... Laughing

Best I can do ..

Now ... back to the "Monk" episode I was watching Laughing Mr. Green Oh Well Laughing
