got this from John Davis last night, it's an old pool cue case , I converted it to take the legs and pedal bar and rods, not bad for $30..

Excellent idea John. I have split cases and by God does it make a difference.

Nice!

Ken, seeing what your steels are, you may understand what I'm talking about in my thread ("Why do you suppose...")!

Split cases seem clearly like a good way to go.

Having spent the best part of 38 years lugging ZB's & ShoBuds around in one piece cases, I can tell you the advantages of split cases.

1. Weight reduction.

2. Maneuverability. Easier to get a smaller body case in and out of a vehicle.

3. Easier to set the pedal steel up and down from a smaller case.

Downsides? Well it has been said by a few Forumites that they have forgotten to take their leg and pedal bar case to gigs. Both cases will take up slightly more room than a single case. I can live with that.

John's alloy case is just the job for his Sierra legs and pedal bar.

Thanks Ken, John Davis had 6 case's ,he kept 2 for himself and sold the other 4 in a few hours . It has made a big weight reduction splitting the legs and pedal bar from the body.. way to go....
