| A few weeks back I was playing a wedding gig and the couple sent me a couple of cd's with music they liked, and I was surprised at how good most of the songs were. These people are not musicians, but seem to have some good taste. One of the songs had some wonderful pedal steel, but since none of the songs were indexed I had no idea who the artist was. I googled a few lyrics and found it was M. Ward from Portland OR and the steel was played by Paul Brainerd. The song is "Paul's Song" and kind of a floaty folk-pop kind of sound. Just wondering if anyone else out there has heard of M. Ward. I don't think he has steel as a regular instrument in his tunes, but a big hats off to Paul for laying down a beautiful track on this one. |

Dave,
M. Ward is now working in a pretty cool duo with actress Zooey Deschanel called She & Him. Their new album just came out and --YES!-- Paul Brainard plays steel on it!

That video is comedy gold!  Great tune, too. Thanks for the link!
I didn't realize at first that she's the "girl from Elf". I dug her singing in that movie.
