Well AATW played in our back yard last night so we loaded up and drove over to El Campo to see them.Murph and I had a nice trip down memory lane talking about Shot and Sho-Bud. One thing and another. Of course his playing was uh .. well it was "Jim Murphy"!We got around to talking about his health and he told me that he has a malignant mass on his left kidney. He is going to Nashville next week and expects them to remove it.He did not tell me not to repeat this so here I am telling the whole world. What I am asking for is prayer from those of you who pray to ask God to heal this man! He needs a healing from this Big C! regards, fred |

Jim Murphy is one of my favorite steel players and also happens to be a great guy. I am sorry to hear that he needs to go through an operation and you can definately add me to the list of people who will be praying for him. Fred, thanks for sharing this info and if you hear anymore about this, please keep us informed. |

Having never met Jim Murphy I have been enthralled with his superb playing. His speed and taste is above the cut on everything I have ever heard. I'm sure we all want nothing short of complete wellness for this great talent. |

Just got home from listening to AATW in downtown Corpus tonight - however without Ray Benson, he is back in Austin ill. Missed Ray, but the band is still great. And Murph was as good as ever - playing his older blue Sho-Bud.

I was also at the the ATTW concert Friday night in El Campo. The Wheel did great, even without Ray Benson, altough he was missed. Jim Murphy was great as usual. I was saddened to hear about his health problems. I wish him all the best. I not only want to hear him with AATW many more times, but also with Redd Volkaert at the Continental Club in Austin.
