High everyone I’m another new member to The Forum. My name is Derial (Derral) Lutz. A good Steel friend of mine from St. Hedwig, Tx, Joe Long told me about The Forum a few months back. I am always checking the forum out. B0b has a real comrodery in this forum. I really enjoy it. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m 53 years young. I am retired from city government (Austin, Tx). I was in the Electric Department for 27 years.
I have been playing music for 46 years. I play the guitar (lead & rhythm), bass, piano, drums (basic rhythm) and last certainly not least, steel.
I am from a large family (14, 11 brothers & 3 sisters). My parents got most of my brothers & myself interested in music in central Texas.
In the early ‘70s & ‘80s I played in bands around the Austin & central Texas area. As a matter-of-fact, I bought my first and only double neck from a Forumite everyone seems to respect very much on this Forum: Herb Steiner. Even then it was bought 3rd hand. Herb, I’m still playing that old Pro lll I bought from you in the early ‘80s.
I’m not playing the bars anymore because of the smoke and dust. I started playing a couple of jamborees around the central Texas area. It is relaxing and I get to meet a lot of fine folks, young & old at these gigs. Well, I guess I’ll quit boring you fine folks for now. I’m glad to be part of b0b’s steel family. Thanks again. GIG UM, AGS!

Derial!
Hey, good hearing from you, Bubba! Welcome aboard.

BTW, that Pro III was second hand. I bought it new back in 1976. You're the second owner.

Hi Derial and welcome to the Forum. This is a great website with a lot of good members. I view this site at least 2 times daily and sometimes more if I have time on my hands. I find this site informative as well as for learning. Sit back and enjoy the fellowship even though most of us probably do not know one another. Bob has really outdone himself here and I sure give honor for giving us a sounding board....Paul

Welcome aboard, guitarman ,from Lake Charles, La. . My grandson hung that title on me when I bought my computer, . I saw to it he had good guitar lesson as he grew up.
He is now in the Air Force, ststioned in Calif. ,going to school.
I play accoustic steel, some call them Dobros , Mine is not a dobro. It is a
" Benoit", If you play it with a steel ,it`s a steel guitar, .

This is a fun place, there are some fine people here , they let me stay,

R. L.

Hello Herb! I stand corrected on the steel it’s been a long time! It’s been close to 15 or more years since I last saw you with David Clark and his group. I noticed by your posts that you’re still as busy as ever. I like your web page. I visit it often. I’ll email you soon just to chat.
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. It’s good to know there’s a place to chat with other musicians. I have been out of the music scene for about 10 years. I have some catching up to do. Thanks again. …. GIG UM, AGS!

Derial,

Welcome to the forum. Boy! That is a large family you have.

Herb probably told you he bought the Pro used so he could blame any dings on someone else. And as far has his being respected here, I think it's more like the old Lynn Anderson song, "If I Kiss You Will You Go Away". Just kidding. Herb's a blast here and when I bump into him at Scotty's.
