Hi, I am in CA right now but I live in Hawaii and play Hawaiian style lap steel. I'd be happy to help you through email if you are playing the same tuning I play. If not it won't work. I play what is commonly called C6/A7. High to low, E, C, A, G, E, C#. Actually I play B6/G#7 but either of these is ok. I also play an 8 string tuning as well as the 6 string tuning which is even better. Its the same as above but on my B6/G#7 tuning I add an A string to the bottom and a Bb string (1/2 step bellow the B string) on top. If you'll send your email address I'll send you some Mp3s of me playing Hawaiian steel, 6 string and 8 string. Don |

Thanks for your gracious offer Don! However, I am actually trying to locate a teacher in town, as a friend is trying to start a seniors-oriented Hawaiian music program at a local music school. |

Check the phone book for Alan Law. On an earlier but still available album called Canadian Borderline by Nanaimo resident Doug Cox, there was an acoustic dobro player named Alan Law guesting, who I believe was from Victoria. When I met Alan in 1993, he was playing in high bass G.
If you can't find Alan, check with Nanaimo resident Doug Cox:
