He is a question that may have been covered before, but I don,t remeber it. Does it hurt anything to store a pedal steel like in a closet, setting in the case on it's end? Does it matter on which end? I have one guitar in particular that I don't use much and we have run short on space in the house. I want to keep it in the airconditioned environment. (Not out in the storeroom). More guitars will fit in the closet standing on their ends. |

I don't believe there's any problem whatever in storing a steel guitar in a closet on its side.
I have one steel for which several nylon tuners stick out a bit past the end plate. In general, I keep the keyhead-end down to avoid the possibility of the guitar's full weight putting putting heavy pressure on the endplate tuners, rods, bellcrank, etc. Probably not a big deal, but I probably ought to tear that one down and set it up so those nylons don't stick out. |

I have one set up to practice on, one I take out to gigs, and one as sort of an investment, sheer joy of owning it kind of guitar. Each one has special meaning to me and I'd have a hard time selling one. Sorry about all the typing goofs in the first post. I can't figure out how to edit them anymore. |
