Here are a couple of Gene Watson-ish sounding intros. Hope you get some use of them. Note: 14 Carat is a pretty good exercise in what to pick with what, in order to get the speed up. Also in single note blocking. I've added what I use to pick the first part, you may use something else. I broke it up into four distinct picking patterns to learn it.

Joseph, your absolutely correct. I have checked mine against the youtube at 50% speed
and corrected the ending to include both the guitar and the steel notes in harmony.
Try it and see what you think.

Jerry, your kind response is more than enough thanks. My hope is that anyone using any of my tabs gets a little good out of them. Just want to give back some tidbits of what I've been given. Remember though, Jeff Newman's material is some of the best that can be found for a solid back ground in steel guitar and there are many many other professional Steel Instructors and Steel Material writers that can and should be used to help us on our chosen journey. Check out Joe Wrights, Secrets of the Right Hand, video for a real boost in your picking technique and don't forget Marice Anderson who uses a little different approch in steel study. Stay tuned in though, you never know what will spill out of my head. And if you think I can help, please just ask. For every questioned asked, there are at least ten pickers who wanted to know. Might give me an idea for a post. Good Pickin!! |
