Thats Right Folks: Jerry Fleming and his beautiful new(Cocobola Wood) Marlen will be in Saluda Sc. Mr. Buddy Walker has invited Jerry to perform on stage with all the other big names along with the greats like John Hughey, Jeff Newman, Herby Wallace, Joe Turner. I am sure you won't want to miss seeing our Great friend play and hearing the beautiful sounds he gets from his MARLEN. Jerry just played at our MASGA Wilson NC. Jam this past weekend along with some other great players that included Herby Wallace, Clyde Mattocks, Boo Miller. So come on down to Buddy Walkers great Jam in Saluda SC. Jeff Newman will be giving a seminar on Sat afternoon and the Sat night Jam session will start around 6-7pm until? Sunday show starts around 10-11am. Come on out and support Buddy's Great Jam and show that weekend. The MASGA is proud to have our Very own Member Jerry Fleming invited to perform at Buddy's Saluda Jam. If you miss this one, you will really miss out on some great steelguitar music. Buddy has even knocked out a wall to make some more room. Buddy's Show just keeps on getting bigger and better each time he has one. Make your plans now to attend this great event.

All kidding aside, Jerry is one of my insperations from 25 or so years ago along with Mike Calloway and Jerry Staley not to mintion the great players I heard on records, radio and t.v.
If you can make it be sure to check Jerry out, he's a dandy.

Hi Ricky:
Yes !! That guitar is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen and it has a tone that is unreal!!.( Thanks for posting a picture for all to see) I think this guitar is the last Double neck that was built by Marlen before Mr. Leonard Stadler Passed. Jerry plays this guitar with soooo much soul and feeling! Everyone will just have to come out and hear it for themselves!!
Looking forward to see and meeting some new friends at Saluda.

I got me a green and tan Marlen D10 that could be that one's brother. I absolutely love it to death. I have never been to Saluda so I'm eyeballing trying to make it to this one. |

I got to jam with Jerry in Wilson, NC last weekend, and I must say that the Marlen did sound great. For what it's worth, I have always thought Marlen guitars had a good tone and Jerry's really backs that up. Also, Jerry did a great job playing it too, and I must agree with Ken about the soul and feeling. I could really relate to Jerry's soul. It really bothers me as I think in many cases the soul and feeling in music with many musicians and vocalists has become a lost art. To me the soul and feeling makes the difference in what the music is saying rather than just a bunch of sterile notes.

The folks at Saluda, SC are in for a treat this weekend. The lineup of outstanding players from Nashville and then add to that list my good friend Jerry Flemming, Vinton, VA. Jerry comes from a family of steel guitar players, his father played for E.T. and Jerry had a great bunch of pickers around southern Virginia to help develope his style such as Leonard Stadler, Marvin Hudson, Arnett Mills, Mike Sweeney, Mike Calaway, and on and on.
Jerry, give them a great show and I know they will appreciate it. The folks are great at the Saluda Shrine Club. So Saluda folks, he plays even better with loud applause.
I wish I could be there but duty calls.
