Is the Steel chat room still up and running? I think it was the Ray Walker room.

Let me take a little time to answer a few of your questions or concerns.

You can actually do as much of both playing and talking as you want. We play in the room a great deal. You wanna play something for us....Sit down to your steel and have at it....we can all hear you live. Wanna learn a lick that you just heard from another member....just ask him or her. You wanna learn a lick you heard on a cd...just play it and I can pretty much assure you than someone in the room will know how that lick was accomplished and share it with you.
What can you do in the Chat Room that you can't do via the Forum ?
You can talk live...one on one...with other players all over the world...you can attend and learn from seminars when we have those...you can play your guitar for everyone else to hear and you can talk about how certain licks are done or any number of things. The most important thing is that you can meet other steelers that you would not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

There are no security issues with the plug in. This is "voice over IP" software that is used to make everything happen. We have been using it for over 6 years with no security issues. Simply put, it is no different than getting a program for your computer and then downloading the software to make it work. If you don't believe that...and you are just too concerned to use the program because of that concern....there's simply nothing me or anyone else can do to change your mind and we really aren't doing this to try to get you do to anything for us....we make no money doing this for steel players, it's simply something nice we enjoy doing.

I was considering reintegrating with the community, but it appears it is Windows clients only now... is this correct?
Yes Dave that is correct, While we enjoy your company, it is not Mac friendly. Randy Beavers had the same issue, however he simply goes through his PC when he is in the room.

Finally let me just say....What may be fun for me may not be fun for you...We started this service 6 years ago and it has been what it is since. It takes a great deal of time on both my part and Don Poland to keep all of this running smoothly and we get no financial rewards for that....What we do get is the opportunity to see Steel guitarist from all over the world come together for some fun and enjoyment....learning...teaching...and sharing. When new products come out we invite those folks into the room to show it off and explain things and answer questions "live" and in real time. If you have a desktop mic you simply press a button to talk...a mic from WalMart is all you need.(cheap) You don't have to put gas in your car to visit your friend in the next state of several states away. In fact you don't to do anything but sit down in front of your computer in the comfort of your own home. It's 5 bucks a month for goodness sake. If it's not worth 5 bucks to do the things that I just talked about, then it's just not..

If anyone has any questions about the room or the functions or anything else you can simply e-mail me at ADMIN@ISGCC.COM. Or you can visit our site at WWW.ISGCC.COM

What Ray said. I think it's great to be able to talk to the likes of Norm Hamlet, Walter Haynes, Jerry Brightman and Bobby Bowman (on a daily basis). These are some of the steel players that come in the conference center that myself would probably never get to talk to and shoot the bull with otherwise. Randy Beavers and Mike Sweeney and others. The knowlede and just plain fun in the room is unsurpassed.

Ditto to what both Ray, and Mike have said.
I spend more time in the room than anywhere else on the net.
It's like my own personal country club anytime I want it.

OBTW, if it's not worth 5 bucks to you, well I guess it's just not for you.
Me, I pay my dues a year in advance.
Besides, I waste more than that on drinks and junk food.
Never had a problem with the security either.
Why not give us a try. You won't be disappointed.

The Steel confrence room is a great place to be, where else can you set and discuss steel guitar with great players and friends for sixty bucks a year.

I am ggoing to have to start saving up for a years supply of Steel Guitar Chat Room. I was on it back before they started to charge for it. IT was very informative and it was really neat to ccaht with Bobby Bowman at 1:0o in the AM HA! IT is like other forumites have said, "It's worth every penny!"
