Sonny -
Welcome to the forum family. Your new CD "Reflections" is terrific, I remember many times watching you play at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa with George Jones and what an inspiration you were to me back then. We're hoping to see you at some of the up coming steel shows, keep us posted and again, welcome aboard.

Welcome to the Forum Sonny. Tammy and George have always been my favorite artists. I saw them perform a few times way back " when ". The steel parts were always superb, they were what attracted me to love the steel. Thanks for your contribution to the steel guitar community.-----Skip

Welcome aboard. I remember spending lots of time at your Columbus store. And times when you would leave the store at 2:30 and have to be on the Opry with George at 8P.M. How well I remember the old days when the "CLARK" steel was started. And the hours with DElbert in the repair room. If possible stop by the guitar show in Columbus Sunday and say Hi. Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works. Rember the late Luke Sabo and his "Baldwin"/// |

Welcome, Sonny
I can remember an article on you in the late 70s and seeing you onstage with the Jones Boys -- your legacy speaks for itself. I'm sure you'll find a lot of old friends (and some new ones) around.
We'd be interested in your perceptions of the direction that country music and steel guitar have taken in the past 10-20 years, what your plans are (gigs? tours? shows?), your memories and anecdotes, and your approach to music and the pedal steel.
Again, welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard Sonny. I bought the
first proto type Session 500 from you
around 1978? or so. I never saw you
play but a friend told me your guitar
was set up the the A and B pedal
opposite of a standard E9th. Its been
so long I can't remember.

Sonny, If you was good enough for Jones, you've got to be good enough for me cause I think he likes a good steel even better than I do.
Did you play on any of his recordings?. If so do you remember which ones.
And welcome.
I just looked at your website and I guess you did play on some of his recordings. I still have a lot of those old LP's. They are so worn out they don't sound to good but It's still fun to hear then once In a while. That was back when you could go to the record store and play one before you bought It.
Any good times you can remember and share with us would be nice. I think we've all already heard the bad. At least I have.
Bob. [This message was edited by Bob Carlson on 07 January 2003 at 08:27 PM.] |

Sonny welcome. In 1972 I wrote you a letter asking you about the pros and cons of playing a ZB etc, upon your recommendation I bought a single neck from a mail order house in Texas. I also bought a DELSON volume pedal from you that I used for almost 30 years, great pot pedal.
Thirty years later I am still playing and teaching steel and Dobro out in Oregon, thanks for the encouragemet and help way back then.
Don't be a stranger here.

Hi Sonny,
So nice to see you on the Forum. We are sure enjoying your new CD and anxiously looking forward to hearing you play at the Michigan Steel Guitar Show in Grand Rapids in April. My niece, Jaxie, is still playing the ZB she bought from you in the early 70's. We were so happy to visit with you both at the St. Louis shows the past two years.
