Bobby's alive and well and lives in Hendersonville...He owns a label and has been recording new artist or session seekers...Bobby had a long string of several top ten hits with "You Lay so easy" which he co-wrote with Charley Fields and was the #1 song on the charts forseveral weeks in 72.He is an excellent writer as well..I have worked several times with Bobby he's a great family man. Bobby still does concerts from time to time and his vocals are still right there...Oh and one other thing Bobby also plays steel well along with several other instruments..He still I believed is honored in his home state of Wisconsin and plays at Fairs there yearly....Although we haven't got together in years I consider Bobby among one of the nicest people I have worked with and ever met..He has recorded and released several CD's and Albums of hits...

Funny how you said that I have had thoughts lately to. I played steel for him one night about sixteen years back.He wrote a real nice thank you to me on his album and left it on the corner of the stage for me.What a super nice guy .Did you Know he plays steel to. if your in music city on most any given saturday and other times too you can find him at rudi's soda shoppe, next to e.t.'s midnite jamboree theatre in music valley, singing his hits with the lovely songstress from amirrillo, miss dianne berry and the rudi tootie's. he will sit and visit for hours if a fan comes around. he appreciates his moment of fame.
even if he is not there, it is a must do, to make the scene at rudi's. you never know who is gonna be there. a great home away from home and the best live music in the valley.

Bobby is a wonderful singer, and very nice person. Here is a photo of Mr Rice, and my daughter and forum member Lillie Powles. Lillie was 3 years old at the time of the picture. It says 1988 on the corner of the photo. George Redmon played a few road jobs with Bobby Rice during the mid 80's, in michigan. Lillie will be 25 years old on September 8, 2008. She is serving in the US Army. Time sure flies. Makes me feel old.

I played a couple shows with Bobby G. Rice in the early 1990's up in Minnisota. I was living in Nashville at the time and my roomate got me the gig. Kent Westberry hosted the show and Freddie Weller was another one of the artists that we backed up. On the second show Bobby gave me a break and got behind my Sho-Bud and played Steel Guitar Rag. He sounded great! I believe he told me that he had a Lloyd Green model Sho-Bud at home. It was one of the first big shows I played after moving to Nashville so it was a real memorable experience for me. He was a really nice person, as was everyone else on the gig. I am glad to hear he is doing well.

i did a couple gigs with him when he was booked into a club i played in the early 80's - He seemed to be a true gentleman and great singer - wasnt "sugar shack" a bit of a hit for him too?
