I would like comments on the MXR Analog (Green Box)
from the 70's. Is this a good unit, I'm looking for a
little depth to my sound. Would this be as good or better as the one old 1500 MXR Digital Delay (Blue Box Rack) in the early 80's?
Thanks

That is a DELICIOUS delay. One of the best I've heard!

If you're looking for that analog delay sound, with relative short delays times and a luscious degradation of sound with each echo, the MXR green box is tough to beat IMO. It's rich and creamy. For me, there's a time for the crystal clarity of a digital delay and a time for the thickening beauty of an analog delay; in my work they aren't mutually exclusive but really two very different tools.

In another thread I also noted I have an Analog Man modified Boss DD-3 pedal with his Hi-cut mod. It's an excellent way to have both a digital delay and an emulation of an analog delay in one box.

Ihad this delay as a kid and thought it was awesome. Ive been searching for another one for a while but they are always so expensive. BUT...mxr just re-issued this pedal in a small stompbox for $149. It's called the "carbon copy"...all analog, bucket brgade chips, no attached ac power chord like the old ones, and they added a modulation button. check em out
