I need a cable to connect my laptop (headphone output) to my amp. It has to have a mini stereo male on one end and a 1/4 mono male on the other end. I'm using an adapter with a cable right now but am lookin for a one piece cable as the two piece setup is givin me problems. Any ideas?

I went through the same search a while back, and ended up with what you have. The solution is to make our own, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm interested, too, if you find the one piece cable, Andy.

My actual use was from my pre-amp output to the stereo input on my sound card, but it's the same set-up.

Andy:

The most common way of connecting a laptop to an amp is through a mixer. You can get a cable that has the mini stereo plug to 2 mono 1/4" plugs at radio shack. The mono plugs connect to a stereo input at the mixer. Then it is only a matter of connecting the amp to the mixer output.

A lot of folks have problems with noise from a laptop and use a "3 prong to 2 prong" adapter to remove the ground wire. I've seen this a lot especially when using the laptop for BIAB.

The only other solution I know is to get the wire and make your own cable.

Cool
