I would just like to say that if the rest of the jams turns out to be as good as this first one, they will be a great success. Despite the cold weather, we had a good turn out. I'd like to thank Jerry Newberry and Donna for filling in on such short notice due to the fact that there were some cancellations due to sickness. Great job guys. Maybe in March Austin will be able to join you. All the guys did a great job. Thanks to Larry Garrett, Virgil Pittman, Ray Qualls, Tim McCutchen, Vance Monday and his wife Lila, and of course to the president Roger Osborn. Also Donley Harrington, Dwayne Carger and Randy. Everyone seem to enjoy the new place. I think one more trial run and we'll have all the nicks worked out for the April convention.

I think the new place is just beautiful and the sound system is "Great". Thanks also to Norma Jean for playing bass. Fine job. I know one thing that these guys played their "Hmmm"'s off. I've got to do a lot of woodshedding to even think about getting caught up to their level of playing. Also there was several other steel players there. Clovis Richards from Tulsa area and his wife, Bill Myrick and wife from Pea Ridge and several others from Tulsa club. I apologize for not remembering their names but they know who I'm talking about. Good to see some old friends also. Looking forward to March 15. Thanks again Roger for inviting me.

I'd just like to add my two cents worth...my pal Barry Thomas came in during Virgil's set so we were able to catch most of the guys. Congrats to Ray who's been off his instrument for a while...did a nice job. I have to be careful here but I'd like to give a back door compliment to one of the new guys. He was so at ease with his guitar and played an awesome set, albeit a tuffy for some of the band. All in all, a great time.

What a refreshing and relaxed, enjoyable evening this was ! Thanks so much to Roger and all the members who worked to put this together and to those who contributed their talents playing; both "steelers" and the back up group.
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Tim McCutchen when he came by The Ozark Steel Guitar Ass'n. Christmas party in Branson and last night at this event we had the pleasure of hearing him for the first time. Impressive !!! and as I told him "he has nerves of "steel" to have chosen the songs he did" and then perform them in such impressive manner. Things like "Night Life", "Girl From Ipanema", etc. That new Zum from Ronnie Neighbors sure sounded great Tim. First time I've heard Ray Qualls
do vocals and a great job, as well as his playing. Another pleasant surprise for me ; Jerry Newberry's wife, Donna, has a great voice and did a wonderful job of singing on his set. (Like I told Jerry, I'm not too sure it's legal to have a championship fisherwoman and singer both)
Another thrill for me was when my friend Larry King introduced me to Barry Thomas (master guitar builder) It was great visiting with him and learning of his plans in progress in Oklahoma.
Had a nice visit with Vance Monday and of coarse was thrilled at his playing. Vance and I go back a long ways to Iowa days and yet as close as we were located up there, we never met face to face until; he and his wife moved here to Bella Vista !! Incidently she's a great singer too! Vance has a Sho-Bud that's even older than mine and I noticed it has a bunch more licks in it than mine too ! We both bought our Buds from DeVere Adamson in Indianola, Iowa back in the early 70's and I think Vance said his had either 1958 or 59 stamped on the end plate , at any rate it sure does have that wonderful full "Bud" sound and he brings it out in great fashion !
Great job (as usual) Miss Norma, on metering out that bass so well !!
Again, thanks so much Roger and all the gang for a great evening and we look forward to another soon.

Just want to says thanks to Roger Osbourn and everyone involved in providing a great night of steel music.. All the steelers sounded great except maybe the last one, and I thought he could have done better. A big thanks to the back up band, Norma Jean, Ray, Dwayne, and Roger. Also to Donley and a special thanks to my wife, Lila for not only singing but for her support through the years. I enjoyed getting to visit with other players too. Bill Myrick, it was great to visit with you and to get to meet your wife.. Looking forward to March 15th.

I hope everyone had a great time at our first jam.Our second one is already on the date book for March 15th.I assure you, we will get our sound system troubles worked out. Some say it's the equipment and some say it was the settings.I WILL get it cleared up.
MANY thanks to Jerry and Donna Newberry for coming to help us fill the schedule on a moments notice. We had four of ten scheduled players cancel out Saturday morning due to illness. Thanks to Ray Qualls ,Duane Carger,Norma Jean and Donley for their support of the show.
I was so busy I didn't get to talk with many of you and maybe next time I can get a good rhythm man to give me a break so I can have some time to visit.Four hours is a long time to play without a break.I was delighted to meet Barry Thomas and I apologize for the interruption and I will e-mail you today to finish our conversation.
I can see Vance will be a good one to close the shows because like Joe Wright,he doesn't want to stop either. Tim Mc Cutchen's selections were outstanding. He has a great touch.Ray played well as usual and the NEOSGA is blest and greatful to everyone who attended, played or supported in any way, our first jam. Roger Osbourn. President NEOSGA
