Yes, it's John when he was young and lean, along with "Big Joe", "Pork Chop" and "Anthony Armstrong Jones"......late 60's or early 70's. |

I sure do miss Conway and John....country music at it's best. But at least we have their records. These young "country stars" of today need to listen to music like this and learn what real country is. |

Gene; you may know this. I've never seen it mentioned but when Conway went with more of a crossover sound without John Huey; did they have a falling out about it or was it just time for JH to leave? Thanks, Greg _________________ Derby SD-10 4&5 Black!(duh)/

Greg, there are always rumors circulating about people in the music business, but I have no inside info about a split, if there was one. Conway and John had been friends since highschool so even if there was a problem it is unlikely that either of them would have ever said anything about it in public.
John said he was "tired of the road" and wanted more time at home. John did later work for Vince Gill for awhile but Vince said it was with reservations and he eventually gave that up also.
Conway praised John for his contributions to his career during an interview by Larry King, and when King asked who was going to replace him, Conway said he had had the best steel guitarist in the business for 20 years and he had no plans to hire anyone else.
As far I know, Conway never again had a "full-time" steel player on the payroll. |
