OK, OK, I know this has nothing to do with steel, and some probably believe it has nothing to do with music, but I need a set of shoulder straps for an accordian. The straps should be ajustable to 36 inches in length.
Now when you stop laughing, look around in your junk and see if you have a set of accordian straps, OK?? Thanks, Dan |

Hi Dan, I don't have any great recommendations on where to get straps. Good ones are expensive (though cheaper on ebay than in stores I think). I've actually thought about trying to make some leather ones to replace the nylon ones I'm using.
Just wanted to say that I think accordions are cool and don't deserve getting "no respect." I picked it up so I would have an instrument other than guitar or dobro that would fit into "acoustic only" situations. Haven't had the opportunity to play out yet though. I'm primarily a keyboard player so piano acc. was a natural. However, I'm working on learning chromatic button as the "nerd factor" is much lower and the button treble keyboard is more ergonomic (or so they say). Good luck in your quest.
Best Regards

Dan,
In one of my other incarnations, I play accordion in a very cool zydeco band. And, have no fear...the accordion is the babe magnet for the new millenium.
Anyway...I get my straps from Baldoni.

Thankfully, my accordion straps are some good, solid built leather ones. I have a friend who can make new ones...but the wait would be lengthy!!! I would try the Baldoni route...seems simple enough.

Hey Skip, thanks for the website. But you shouldn't have mentioned the "babe" thing. If my wife reads this, she will probably sell the squeeze box at her next garage sale!! |

Try looking at German music store websites like Thomann, Just Music. _________________ Scott Shipley Facebook |
