Hi,
I was wondering if any of you had any experience with using a Line 6 Guitar Pod? I've just purchased a new Pod X3 only to realize that you can't use the software Line 6 Edit to download sounds. There are a number of great pedal steel sounds that I've got on my earlier model pod that I can't put on my new one now. They recommend downloading a new software called Gearbox to download sounds. I did it and can't find any pedal steel sounds. I'm sure it's a great pod, but without any steel sounds.....

Jeff,
Have you tried backloading programs off the older pod, and loading them back to both units? If I understand correctly, you have programs on your older pod that you want on the new one. If that be the case, backload a couple of programs that you don't like, or use to learn how to do it without risking losing a good program, then when you are sure of how to do it, transfer what you need. Also you can store copys of them on a disc, or other storage media for future needs.

That's a good idea Bill. If that doesn't work I'll just make my own sounds by copying the base amp and the settings. Thanks for the link Loren. It's good to see that there are other steel players out there using the pods. I've been using mine with our in ear system and wouldn't want to go without it. Hopefully I can figure out how to get some great steel sounds on the X3. Thanks again.

Hi Jeff;
I use a Line 6 X3L with my pedal steel, too.
Instead of using Gearbox, I took a look inside the folder presets, played around with them and tried out various amp/cab models. The delays and choruses are very nice in the X3L, imo. Listen to some of the bass guitar patches, there are some nice sounding combos.

I spent a few hours today going through the tutorial trying to learn how to create and save my own sounds. I found a few combinations that seem to work well. I'll keep experimenting with it until I hit on some really solid sounds. When I do I'll let you know. Thanks again.

Jeff,
Assuming that all pod tones load out of gearbox the same, the original tone is still on your computer.If you "tweak" it, and don't like the end results, you can always go back and reload it.If you decided to modify a tone in gearbox, do a copy/past of the tone, and rename the one you change..ie, mod#1 etc.
BTW..you know about "assume".
