With all the great posts complimenting Gary Rittenberry and the Rittenberry guitars, I was curious to know just how many Forum members have Rittenberry steels?
I do not know Gary personally, but I have spoken to him a few times over the phone, and I can say without a doubt, the man is as laid back and friendly and any native Tennessean could be. He goes above and beyond to answer any questions and will talk to you as if he has known you all his life.
And I have heard him play, the man is an accomplished steel player himself. Hats off to Gary, a fine person and no doubt one of the finest steel guitar makers in the business today.
No hype, no sales pitch, just a guy that makes what many consider the finest guitars made today and one of the finest gentlemen you will ever talk to.
I'd really like to know what the owners of the Rittenberry think about their guitars.

Here is my Rittenberry. I've had it since late February this year, and I really like it.
The guitar is very comfortable to play. The knees and pedals are smooth and all within easy reach. However, the tone of this guitar is what I really dig. It's got a vintage vibe to it, but a modern edge. Tuning stability is great. Gary put the BL 705 re-issue pickups in it. I can play it through any amp and it sounds great. I've played it through my Fender Twin, Peavey Nash. 400, Peavey Nash. 112, and Gary's FSK - the tone does not seem to change much regardless of the amp.
All that has been said about Gary's personality on the forum is true - he's a great guy. Honest, Trustworthy and as personable and friendly as anyone I've ever met.

I just bought a used Ritt about six weeks ago.
Its my 1st pedal steel.
Very easy to play and learn on
Called Gary to get some history about the guitar.
He was more than patient with this beginner.
I'm very happy with this guitar.
I have some pictures at my blog.

does anyone know the correct size for the nylon tuning nuts and where I can get some? i dont wanna bother Gary if i can just order em from somewhere. |

| I'm not just the proud owner of a new SD-10 3&5, as of a couple months ago, but a die-hard loyalist to Gary and his fabulous guitar making. If my camera worked, there would have been pictures on the Forum weeks and weeks ago. Soon though, I promise! I can't describe the tone and beauty of my Rittenberry. It is a real work of art that should be in the Smithsonian someday when I get old and go to the other side. This man is a superb craftsman and a genius. The tone he pulls from the guitars made by his gifted hands is nothing short of unbelievable. Hi there to brother Jody! Jay, are you out there with your new Ritt? |

Jody, that steel is a thing of beauty alright. I can only imagine how great it must feel to have a guitar that looks like that and has that Rittenberry sound.
I'd be scared to take it out of the house. 
The nice things said about Gary and the two demonstrations by Bobbe Seymour showing off the fantastic tone of the Riit, sure convinced me to place an order. Since then, I have spoken to Gary a couple of times , and the guy is just as honest and sincere as he can be.
Hats off to a great guy and a fantastic steel maker.
I was very impressed that Gary took all the things that guys like Duane Marrs, Bobbe Seymour and others taught him and that he really strove to obtain what he thought was the perfect tone and to be able to recreate that tone each time. Years and many steels went into this research, until he finally found it and was able to recreate it each time. Then he researched until he found the perfect pickup to reflect that tone. Then he researched the pedal and knee lever action that he felt would please most steelers. Then he settled on a price that he felt most people could afford when purchasing a new modern guitar.
When he found all of that, he created the Rittenberry.
I envey you guys that already have one of Gary's masterpieces. If there is anything negative about his steels, I sure have not heard any. Thanks for all your replys.

I bought my LaGarritt from off of the forum. It is actually an extremely rare 4X5 guitar. You don't find many of those built by Gary.
It is great!!! There are more bells & whistles on that guitar than I know what to do with. I'm glad that I jumped on the opportunity to buy it.

| Proud owner myself of a Rittenberry, that I purchased just shy of 2 years ago. The guitar played and sounded great from day one, and as it's getting played in, it is only playing and sounding better. Gary Rittenberry personally responded to a post on thes forum when I had a few questions about the setup etc of the guitar. Definitely a great, down to earth guy, who cares about his customers even after the sale. |

I have a new Rit, as of July 2008. It is now my main guitar on the road due to it's tone and ease of playing. This is my 5th steel and love it! Since getting the steel I have played about 30 shows and gets more comfortable each time.
I am on tour now but don't go into kentucky, wish I did so we could meet up. Let me know any questions you have, I'd love to help out

Man... that's a dandy looking guitar. Can you tell me a few things about the Rittenberrys like; are they triple raise - triple lower ?? Tunable splits ??

Yes, the Ritt has tuneable splits, and it is a triple raise, triple lower changer. The tone is killer.

Hey Gabriel,
If your the lucky guy that ordered a green D-10, I got a real close look at it Friday afternoon. Gary said he would probably be finished with it today!
What a thing of beauty it is too!! Everything but attaching the pedals and rods were completed and it has a sound to die for!!The neck was finished in a pattern that I had not seen before. Gary has come up with a way to finish the exposed aluminum around the fret board with a look that reminds you of mother of pearl. It was fantastic looking and sounding axe.
I spent about 2 hours with him in the shop and I got a real education on how he makes his guitars. The attention to small details is amazing. There are many little things he puts in his guitars that you can't always see, but they all come together to produce a guitar of excellence in sound and mechanical action. Smooth and quite, the perfect studio steel. And for what it is worth, Gary plays very well too!
So whoever gets this guitar is going to be a proud Rittenbery owner with a beautiful guitar.
