Hi, I am new to the forum and PSG. I have just purchased a Williams from Bill Rudolf. Can not wait until I can sit behind it. I will not get it till September but I am now counting the days. I have read through the Winnie Winston book and although I dont have a instrument other than my six string guitar to use the book sure is a good one. I also have anyone can play E9 psg by mel bay and it looks informative to. Guess I will find out when I get the guitar. Thanks and I am enjoying reading and learning from all you good folks on the forum. |

Buy a used Carter Starter for $500. Sell it in Sept for $500. Otherwise you will go stark raving mad. |

Thanks Chuck, I have been watching the forum for a few weeks and what lead me to the Williams was the post, My New Willy, and the new changer ? It seems to be priced right. I choose the burgundy S10. I also asked for the wood neck, and was reassured that it would not be like a guitar where the neck can bend or warp. The fretboard to me seems to be easy to understand. What I mean is where the markings are on the third, fifth, ninth ect were easy to distinguish because of the color. Hope you understand what I mean. I think G is Green and Green a octave up. To me this will help at first so I won't over shoot the fret. Don't know if this makes sense since I don't have the guitar but ....... |

Roger, welcome!
Your name-Haugejorden- sounds Norwegian. Do you hail from Norway by any chance? Norway can boast of many fine steel players now. |

Roger, I did a quick search on Youtube:
Kjell Helde on steel, nice ride at 3:00
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YAvHjtZugzA
I will be meeting Kjell in a week or so
Nils Farstad:
http://www.etsga.org/nilsfarstad_Keep_it_Country_mpeg.mp3
on Charles Tilley's web site
I will be staying with Nils for a week when I go to Norway this coming Monday.
Just a couple of examples. If you are so inclined, do a search on: Dag Wolf(one of Norways premier steelers)
Likewise Egil Skjelnes. To me, Egil is one of the living pioneers of steel in Norway.
Lars Egil Vågseter.Plays steel in a band called Vassendgutane. I think Lars deserves honorable mention because He started playing steel in his 20's and now, at age 50+ he has become an absolute pro and a very fine picker. I can't find any easily accessible playing by him. But do a search on his name and the band and see what you can come up with. |

First of all, welcome to this great forum. If the people here can't answer your question it doesn't need an answer.
Secondly, good choice on the Willy. I started with a Emmons push-pull, then I ordered a Williams 12 string Exended E9. What a wonderful instrument. Bill does do a great job. Enjoy. |
