To all the forum members in Germany and that area. The "Rockin Fifties" magazine from Germany just did a nice article on me in their september issue. This is about the records I did as a vocalist in the early fifties and it was country, real country.
It's nice to see that they still appreciate traditional country.

Gene:
I knew the name Mac Curtis, did not know him personally.
I only cut a couple of Rockabilly songs for King records and the rest were country.
I am listed with the Rockabilly HAll of Fame in Tennesee
I did a lot of country imitation records in the early fifties begore I went with King.

Please excuse my spelling of your name on the earlier post. Evidently my computor doesn't do what I tell it to. Best excuse I could come up with right now.

Delbert and Gene, nice to hear, that you remember Mac Curtis. He was the first original rockabilly atrist I ever got to see, in -82, here in Finland. Rockabilly was real popular here back then and you could buy compilation albums of those King recordings in any local "wal-marts". Ten years later I got to play guitar for him in Sweden and met him again last summer in GreenBay rab festival. Mac is a very nice and easy goin' fellow and performs regularly on rab shows in Europe!

Jussi:
ACE Records of London bought the King Rockabilly masters and last year released a compilation CD. They included two of my cuts from the fifties and also Mac had one on it.
They are planning on releasing another one in the spring and they have included another one of mine on it.

Del, yes I'm aware of that ACE cd. Haven't checked it out yet, if it has any tracks in addition to those old vinyls. Thanks for reminding!!

For you guys above who knew Mac Curtis, here is an old picture from a show in Seoul, Korea when we were working in a rockabilly/country group called "The Country Gentlemen". That's Mac on the right, and that "young" steel player sticking up from the soundman's head is me. His current website is: http://www.maccurtis.com/
