Aloha, all! Looking for an intro into the world of steel playing, and I figured a good place to start would be w/ a cheaper lap steel.
Unfortunately, I can't spend more than $100-150 w/ shipping, so hopefully there's someone who has a lap steel that they want played by an enthusiastic younger player and it willing to give it up at a reasonable price! Thanks in advance! |

I saw those earlier. Are they acceptable for the price? |

are they acceptable ? Well, what are we wanting for $79 ?
It stays on the legs, it has a pickup that works, it has 6 strings that stay in tune...
It's a $79 thing that actually works ...I like mine just fine..no regrets.

I guess I mean is it worth it to spend twice that on a beginner lap steel? Is there one that's substantially better, or are we talking many more hundreds before we reach that point? Maybe a used one? |

I have one of those. They aren't very good. I'd sell it for $75 plus shipping. I want to get rid of it. It's like new - I just couldn't get into playing it. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I have one of them also and they put a gig bag with it cause its a good place to hide it so no-one can see it. |

if you are comparing it to a HI end Steel, then NO, it's a bust.
Like I said, for $79 mine stays in tune, it doesn't fall off the legs and is ABLE to be played. The music still comes from the player.
It's $79..if someone has never played a Steel and wants to get there feet wet it is not useless. I have tuned mine to C6 and played it for awhile and right now it is Dobro tuned as I do not have a Dobro yet..I am studying the Dobro tuning on this little Steel.
If you plan on playing Carnegie Hall with this then I would say get a better one !

These sell on EBAY all day long for $75 to $100, you cannot get hurt. |
