Topic: Any U.K. steelers here? |

| I'm going to be playing at the Americana fest at Newark-on Trent, U.K. w/Wayne Hancock on July 13. The trouble is that they aren't going to have any backline. I would fly my steel out but i'm wary of loosing it, as it's old and it's my only guitar. Does anyone know of a place there that you can rent a console steel guitar, or perhaps would any U.K steeler be kind enough to let me use their rig for a day? |

if you were coming to France Anthony, i would have furnished a steel for you w; the help of the French steelers
over the past years, i have gotten steels for few few American steelers that came over
Jim Loessberg for 1
this summer in Mirande, Ricky Davis will have my Zum if he wants it
all this to say, that it would be really hip if a European steel service could be available to our American brothers or other steelers coming over here to gig
That would mean, that each community of steelers throughout Europa, would be willing & able to get this service up & running
( it's up & running in France)
using this forum for starters would be get ball rolling |

Forgot to add -reissue fender bassman with 15inch speaker.
The request is really strange as i was gonna email wayne hancock's site to offer my steel for the gig I'm a real big fan. Wayne does not always use steel on gigs so i was hoping that if i offered to provide amp/steel he might just bring a steeler with him ! |

No Problem Anthony, A Fender Stringmaster twin 8 long scale and a NV 112 are available for you.
E-mail me as to what tunings etc..
I will need arrangements made for me to access the stage area..
I DID post a response on the "Reso-UK" forum but they deleted it ?
Take it as a fact that your guitar problems over here are solved. Do you need a six string, I have a 50th anniversary tele you can use as well.. |

Can't understand it Bill, John and Chris, have ANY of us received an acknowledgment ? or was this just a stunt to promote the gig ?
I'm quite prepared to drive the 50 odd miles and deliver the best of gear and re-string the guitar as well, I'd love to see the show..and hear all the steelies that are playing there, it would be new experience to me (And a day out to boot)
The drive would also serve as a "Test Bed" as I need to check out the newly processed batch of reclaimed cooking oil I got from the chipper !! |

I got an email from Anthony this morning Basil, looks like he'll be contacting you.
Let us know how you get on with the chippy oil, I'm loosing money from gigging now with the price of diesel. Looks like I'm going to be sitting outside the back of K.Lee's Supper Bar with a sieve for the next few weeks. |

Bill, I've been running on homemade/reclaimed biodiesel for over 5 years now. It's costing me about 6 pence per liter to process it, and as of now the supplies are free, that's not very much.
Of course when the chippies /cafe's and curry houses get wise to it, they may start charging, but at the moment they're only too happy to get rid of it.

I have a Renault Megane Scenic Dynamique 1.9 tdi and it's slightly "Chipped" in the ecu.. I get 55-60 mpg on the motorway (Cruising at around 80mph)and 45-50+ around town. |

Chris/Basilh, I just talked to Tony on the phone he is out in New Mexico on tour, up all night sleep,and drive all day mode.
He asked me if I could post this for him.
He said he would be home in five days, and would contact you guys.
Chris he said he emailed you a couple of times, and heard nothing back?.
I told him you had computer problems recently.

I was just looking at the Wayne Hancock site and they do look busy ! i suspect there are real distancies between gigs hey just noticed that the USA is even bigger than Scotland !!!We will take good care of Tony I think Basil will make the trip and he can enjoy the whole day I'll be backup in case Basil runs out of gas or whatever he is currently using !!Didn't receive any emails from Tony but your right I have had some technical/computer problems so apologies- as you know I'm a tube/valve guy and these computors are all solid state !!What we need from Tony is his tunings so we can get organised . Lee drop me a line when you have a minute just to see if my email is now ok.Hopefully you can do this gig next year especially if your missing the rain and warm beer here in the UK!! thanks again for your input best Chris |

Anthony, what version of B11 do you use I Have my Stringmaster set up for B11 and C6. The C6 is "E" as the top note 'A La Jerry Byrd'.
It's a November 1953 Longscale (26") and the Pickups have the chrome covers. No blend pot on this model (It came later) BUT I do have the 4 pickups all on individual on/off switches..
I find that playing standing up, the furthest away neck is easiest to play palm harmonics on, so that's my C6 and the nearest neck to me is the B11, I can swap them over if you wish..
The B11 I use is the "Jules ah See" "Barney Isaacs" one :-

5.D#
6.B
7.A
8.low B
The C6 is :-
1.E
2.C
3.A
4.G
5.E
6.C
7.A
8.G
On this neck the string gauges I use make it easy to change from C6 to C13 to E6 or E13th or A6th
The amplifier I can loan to you is a Peavey Nashville 112. This should suit you better than using someone else's gear as you can set it up for your sound and leave it set that way..using other amps on stage can be a precarious situation at best and a disaster at worst..
I have a DeArmond 610 Volume and tone pedal, or a Hilton (Infra Red) or a Morley (Light beam)
Peterson VS-11 tuner and low loss cords..
Also a 50th Anniversary Telecaster can be brought if you wish and a reso (Spider bridge)
