Would like to use my Carter Starter as a rehearsal guitar but would also like to replace the pickup with a Bill Lawrence LXR-16 for a little better tone. Does anybody know if this would work or not? Seems everyone that owns a Carter steel likes the sound of the LXR-16...

So what you are saying is that the pickup can be replaced, right? My real question was CAN it be done? Not, do the Bill Lawrence LXR-16 sound better.. Very Happy

What I'm saying is if other Carter owners have done it, you should able too also. If you really want to know, call the folks at Carter and ask them.

If I recall correctly, they're standard wide mount pickups.

I replaced the Starter pickup with a 10-1. I would call Carter just to make sure the one you want will fit to be sure though. Great change in the tone. I'm almost sorry I sold it now as I also could find it usefull as a rehearsal guitar.
