Excel Superb S-12, Universal on a 12/10 body with pad, in almost mint condition. Everything else being equal, it is lighter than other PSG's.
What if the shipping costs were free anywhere in the contiguous united states?
What if the insurance was free anywhere in the contiguous United States?
What if it had 7 pedals and 7 knee levers?
What if the colors in reality were much prettier than what is shown in these pictures? And the birdseye maple mica top, looks JUST like birdseye maple. NOT like the picture shows it.
What if the seller would make the copedent whatever you want; as long as it was reasonable and as long as the knee levers did not have to be moved. Incidently the down knee levers are adjustable front to back and side to side. And the adjustment takes less than 10 seconds to perform. The vertical knee lever is adjustable up and down as well.
What if you knew that this guitar was only out of the sellers home one time in the 10 yrs the seller has owned it, and that was to take it to Stlouis to show some of its features?
Also the guitar was bought brand new. The case has been used once in 10 yrs, Guess where it went? The rest of the time it has been stored in the sellers bedroom closet.
What if it had 5 raises and 5 lowers per string? And the raise helper spring adjusters and well as the return spring adjusters are accessible from the right end plate?
What if it did NOT break strings UNLESS the string was defective from the getgo? What if it is keyless?
What if it looked brand new?
What if the seller told you that it really needs a quality pickup. Since the one in there was only an inexpensive stock pickup?
What if it has a very unique vertical knee lever that does not pivot from either end, so no matter where your knee contacts it, you feel the exact same pressure to engage it.
What if that knee lever was longer than normal so you could engage any of the other Left Knee levers while you engaged the vertical knee lever?
What if the tone control had a cut out switch built right into it?
What if it has split screws for all 12 strings?
What if the seller told you that it does NOT sound like a Sho-Bud or an Emmons or a Zum?
What if it had a 25 and 1/2" scale?
What if the price was going to drop EVERY weekend until it is sold provided it met the sellers "reserve"?
Suppose you wanted to buy it, but you could not have it until the ISGC show in Stlouis in August, because the seller has short legs and this guitar has 1" shorter legs and pedal pull rods. BUT....the owner is picking up a new guitar at the show; and he is going to switch those new standard legs and pull rods? So the buyer AND the seller wins on both accounts.
So I bet you are asking what is the starting price aren't you? Hee Hee. I knew you were dyin' to know.
It is $2495.00. NO other charges. Shipped free right to your door. The insurance will be set at $4,000.00 and you do not have to pay a dime towards it. wow!
On sunday, the price drops. How much? I am not going to tell you. The following Sunday it drops again if there are no takers. And so on.
But there is a point where it will be taken off the market. Cuz the seller jes ain' gunna give it away
The ONLY known problem with the guitar, is the PU needs to be replaced with a quality one. But then think about it! You can take the money you normally spend on shipping and insurance and buy yourself one. How bout that?
Any questions? (OPS, I am sorry some of the pitchers do not match the text. Give me time, I will correct that when I got some time. Cuz it is late, I am sleepy and I am going to bed now. So there! )
I forgot about the questions? Sorry bout that.

Unique guitar!....I've got a couple of questions though.
Q1:What does the mini-gear shifter do? Does it lock in the E-->Eb's.
Q2: What are the 3 buttons/knobs in the faux-keyhead for? |

Now, that's a thoroughbred! A truly beautiful piece of engineering!
Too bad I don't need one more steel, because this one is GAS-inducing! |

IMHO, this guitar is THE most thought out, best designed guitar in the world.
Yes, the world.
I know about Anapeg, but do not see one around.
IMHO, you simply cannot attain a better constructed guitar anywhere!
Man, that is one sweet machine to behold! |

Q1:What does the mini-gear shifter do? Does it lock in the E-->Eb's. |
You are correct. PLUS, this "LOK" lever does something most do not do. Intead of JUST locking the E's to Eb, it has its OWN separate crossbar and bellcranks.
This has two advantages:
1. Often one finds that when you lock the E's to Eb on Universals, they can be a little bit out of tune, and NO way to correct this. But since this one has its own crossrod, etc, you can tune those Eb's separately. Cool huh?
PLUS, you can add other changes to it. IE, on this one, I added a 3rd bellcrank and pullrodd so I could lower the 2nd String D# to a C# along with the E's to Eb. This emulates what Buddy Emmons does on his C neck on his D-10, where he changed the 1st string to a D note.
But in this case there is no sacrifice since the 1st string on this guitar emulates the G string Buddy had to give up. Wow! Does it evah stop being a gem? HeeHee
Remember on a Universal, everything is one fret lower. IE, B6 instead of C6
But consider this. That beautiful C chord is at fret one. So you kin play "Steelin the blues" in a key evah rythm guitar kin play in. heehee. And ya don't have to worry about those ben laden awful resonant overtones at the 12th fret when playing in the very popular key of C. Whooopeeee! Sake alive. Does it evah stop?

Q2: What are the 3 buttons/knobs in the faux-keyhead for? |
Those are tuning wrenches. But why 3? Ok..
1. One is for the keyless keys
2. One is for the changer tuners
3. One is for the "split" screws (it be da leetle one)
Isn't that a neat way to store them? Mistsuo drills the holes for the allen wrenches (attached to the "Ka Nobs"), just a tad smaller, so they do not fall out when you turn the guitar upside down, Yet they slide in sooooo smoothly
So you can have one in a keyless key, and one in one of the nylon tuners at the SAME time. Be suprised how nice that can be at times. When you are tuning up.
Plus at the changer end, the wrench does NOT fall out NO matter how hard you stomp on the pedal or knee lever. IE, ya kin leave it there all day and all night or all year. It ain' comin out! Lesson U take it out!
The reason it does not fall out is because it fits inside the nylon tuner and it goes in deeper. AND this is the reason there can be more raises and lowers since the tuners can be right next to each other. Wow!

It DOES! 'Cept there are two extree. 'jes in case
You don' lack 'em. Take a pair of dykes and cut 'emoff'n thar!
Seriously, I can remove them, and I can set the copedent to be exactly what it is on the standard D-10.
So as the years go by and you find you would like to have that LOW LOW LOW "E" like Tom Brumley has on his 11 "stranger", Ya don't have to sell it. Just "putt" that sapsucker on there and wham a way! Do Whap Do Whap :oops
Then years later when they ALL have gone to 12 strings (it IS coming, I garontee ya), 'jes putt that 12th string on there and pick away, cuz ya just saved the hastle of havin to sell yer 10'r and pay 12,000 dollars for an S-12. Which is xactly what they will cost then, considering what the price of gasoline is going to do to EVAH thang!
Imagine a loaf of bread costing 32 dollars and 99 cents. Give me a break

I am pleased to announce that this Excel is sold.
I can't believe it sold already. I created this thread after midnight last night Eastern daylight Time. Wow.
May Jesus bless this transaction; and may He particularly bless the buyer; and may He cause this guitar to bring many hours of joy and happiness every time the buyer sits behind it.
I loved it better than any guitar I have ever played. And NO, I still say that the Emmons' P/P has the best sound I ever heard. And I dearly LOVE the LeGrande III's. but No guitar ever brought me the overall pleasure as this one did.
While sound is indeed important, it is NOT the only important thing about a PSG. I believe this is the untold and too often sad story about many PSG/s
I am hoping that my new Excel, that I am to receive in Stlouis, will be an even greater blessing. For it has some new features I am just hankerin to try out.
In addition, I have found just recently the answer to something that had stymied my life-long dream of having "switchovers". I will explain more about that at another time. But I would be remiss if I did not say that I am so excited. I am like a kid in a candy store that is told, "you can have ANY thing you want". Now at age 76 that IS out of this world. Wow praise Jesus.
May Jesus also bless Mitsuo Fujii for being so incredibly accomadating to my requests.
And may He richly bless all of you,
carl |
